There are 3 variants of this Rugged Triple. Mine is trustworthy :)

I've owned this drive for about a year and I like it; I just bought a second one. I have the 1TB, 5400 RPM version; there are also two 500GB versions of this "Rugged Triple" with the dual FW800 ports and single USB3 port; one of these 500GB versions runs at 7200 RPM (as Lacie's literature and...

Drive fine, connector not

No way to even salvage the drive inside, as LaCie uses the same type of weird screws with pins in the middle that Apple uses on their products to lock them down.

Looks nice; The drive itself worked fine; Rugged orange rubber bumper is a good idea

Worked for about 9 months, then the connector began to act spotty; It became difficult to maintain obtain or maintain a connection; The special funky and delicate USB connector that manufacturers seem to be so fond of now was just not making good contact anymore.

LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series review

There's little mistaking the LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series , thanks to its eye-catching orange rubber bumper. You can find it in three capacities – 120, 256 and 1000 GB – although the latter is currently reverting to spinning disk technology instead of the solid-state flash tech in the...

Good performance; choice of interfaces; very tough

Unsubtle colour finish; disappointing small-file performance; expensive

LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt drive: Excellent

The Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt that LaCie announced today is the third bus-powered Thunderbolt drive to hit the market and the second one that also supports USB 3.0. Its two contenders are the Elgato Thunderbolt SSD, which is the very first Thunderbolt drive that's bus-powered, and the recently...

The LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt offers great performance; USB 3.0 support; and is rugged and competitively priced

The LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt offers just one Thunderbolt port and its SSD version offers only 120GB of storage space

Amazing!

I was a bit skeptical about the mini at first. But it works flawlessly, fits perfectly in decent sized pockets, and is fast! The only con is that at times it can get a little hot but this has only happened twice. Overall it is a great product and well worth your money!

Fast; Quiet; Reliable

Fast, could have used more instruction.

It works as it should. It's a little confusing getting started as there are actually TWO drives on it and if you leave it partitioned, it will keep trying to open the smaller of the two drives when you are trying to add things to the larger one, and when you switch from one laptop to another, it...

LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 portable hard drive

Although it has been said that it won't become mainstream until it is officially adopted by Intel in 2011, USB 3.0 - aka SuperSpeed USB - is steadily emerging from the shadows with more and more manufacturers bringing support for the protocol to the eager masses.

Well orange you good looking

I have a number of these LaCie Rugged drives in various configurations because I'm a very shallow man and can't resist their Neil Poulton-designed cases. Performance is decent enough via USB 3.0 and the 2.5-inch mechanical drive is whisper quiet.

Not So Rugged Drive

My rugged lacie mini turned out to be not-so rugged. After less than a month of use (at home on my desk), my computer could no longer detect the hard drive and after running lacie service diagnostics under their direction, they told me it was broken and needed to be sent in for repairs.

Review LaCie rugged 500GB USB 3.0

External Speeder. If you need fast external memory, you won't really be able to avoid the new USB 3.0 USB port. LaCie now offers the "rugged" series with this fast interface and has to prove its potential in this review.
