Kingston HyperX 120GB

Why, you may ask. The answer is simple: It features the SandForce controller, which everyone appears to talk bad things about, making a lot of people steer away from this drive.

Kingston HyperX 120GB (SH100S3-120G) Review

Earlier, we had a look at Kingston's V+ 200 SSD which offered decent performance but for that price, you were better off with their HyperX series. Today, we have that very SSD with us and we're about to find out how much better it actually is.

Fast and reliable in the long term.

Fantastic, This was by far the best upgrade I made to my laptop (Acer Extensa 5235). It is really fast and reliable, I've been using this for around 2 years now. Good Drive Problems installing

I figured the problem out and was not able to boot in AHCI, I had to redo my computer which I had to re-add everything. If you do not enable AHCI on this drive as a boot drive you will get the BSOD. I tried a SSD copy program which did copy but Windows would not start for me.
Pros:
  • Very Fast once you have it installed
  • I have it on SATA III controller with a Windows Experience of 7.9 for the Drive
  • I am running a Sabertooth X58 with a i7 990 processor
  • Machine is very fast
Cons:
  • Very difficult to install due to lack of specific instruction
  • You must have AHCI on the SATA enabled or you get the BSOD(It happened to me) and you must install Windows after after you have the Bios SATA set to AHCI if not you will run into problems.
