Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning showed great promise in its demo , leaving us eagerly wanting more. It also left us wondering whether the full title would live up to our expectations though. In short, it does.

Engrossing story and sidequests; Satisfying combat; Detailed and varied environments

Some comparisons to massive multiplayer games in style may deter some players; The disappointing lack of any dragons that fly backward

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning – review

As an expansive, high-fantasy RPG set in a sprawling world, Reckoning naturally invites comparison with Skyrim , and even the game's developers have acknowledged Bethesda's epic as a threat.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Review (PC)

Nowadays, all new triple-A titles are a rare sight, so Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, coming from 38 Studios and Big Huge Games, definitely stands out from the array of sequels or reboots that are arriving on the market.

+Dynamic combat; +Lots of choices and freedom; +Stylized visuals

-Annoying mini-games; -Problematic camera

Kingdoms of Amalur

No problems using with EA. The gameplay is amazing and there is so much to explore. For $10, the is the best value for an RPG game out there. It would be perfect except for one glitch. The last boss keeps recovering even after being beaten down multiple times. I think it is a bug.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Review

Who said that epic and expansive fantasy RPGs had to have subpar gameplay? For as much as I absolutely adore games like Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2 and Skyrim, gameplay in those titles simply didn't live up to the amazing standards set by their superb settings, narratives and quest structures.

Let me begin this review with a disclaimer: I have put in over 60 hours into Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and I'm nowhere close to finishing the game . You can take away two things from that revelation- one, I'm a very OCD-type gamer when it comes to open-world RPGs (as in I want to discover...

FUN

Despite the cons I listed, this game is still a heck of a lot of fun to play. I'm still playing it each day and finding new ways to create my characters and play styles. Highly recommend this game!

Super fun! :) One of the best games I've played of 2012; The combat is refreshing and action-oriented, the weapons and armor look awesome, slaying monsters is gratifying, the main quest is interesting and the entire world just oozes style.

Some cons I have experienced: 1) Quest system gets very repetitive; Doesn't take many leaps and bounds away from other RPGs in this area; 2) Crafting system is great BUT super overpowered.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

With big names on the development team like R.A Salvatore, Ken Rolston and Todd McFarlane, Kingdoms of Amular (KOA) had some high expectations to live up to. Taking place in a beautifully crafted world designed by Ken Rolston (Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion), you awaken from death and quickly learn that...

Even the greatest role-playing games aren't necessarily known for their great combat. They're frequently praised for their ambitious worlds, their involving stories, and the element of choice. But when you talk about your favorite RPGs, it's not often that the action is what you talk about first.

Top-notch combat with a real punch; Fantastic; flexible character advancement; Some great-looking creatures; Extensive world with tons of stuff to do and lots of monsters to fight

Generic story and characters; Generic world; Generic quests
