Amazon is back with an all new Kindle which is dubbed as Oasis. The eighth generation Kindle was launched in India earlier this month for a hefty price of Rs. 23,999 for the WiFi variant and Rs. 27,999 for the WiFi and 3G variant .
- Brilliant build and design
- Leather cover with built-in battery
- Great 300 ppi display with 60% more LEDs
- Physical buttons and auto rotation
- Overpriced
- Not waterproof
- Less improved software features
Tech Guide got its hands on the Kindle Oasis and we were surprised at how small it is. It's just 3.4mm at its thinnest point and is lighter than a smartphone at just 131g. But that wasn't the surprising part.
Kindle Oasis review: The best e-reader is not worth the price of a high-end tablet
The Kindle Oasis has a revolutionary design, but is that enough to warrant the luxury price?- Unique and beautiful design
- Included case with second battery
- Lighter and more compact than any other e-reader
- Not a big performance update compared to previous versions
- Battery life may not be as impressive as claimed
- Device weight becomes average when case attached
The Kindle has been with us for more than eight years now (it made its debut in late 2007 – the year which also saw the world get a first glimpse of a phone from a certain company in Cupertino) – and in that time has carved a niche for itself as being without doubt the best option for anyone who...
Amazon Kindle Oasis Review – An embarrassment of riches
Amazon is out of its mind, and yet for some reason I'm considering opening my wallet and spending hundreds of dollars on a Kindle Oasis . The company's new flagship ereader wows first with design, then with sticker-shock: closest yet in Amazon's quest to dethrone paper with its digital replacement,...
Amazon's beautiful, functional, impractical Kindle Oasis reviewed
Amazon's Kindle has gone through roughly two different design phases. The first began with the original Kindle in 2007 and ended, roughly, with the Kindle DX and Kindle Keyboard in 2010 and 2011.- Slimmer
- sleeker
- and altogether more usable design pushes the Kindle lineup forward
- Redesigned body and physical buttons make it incredibly comfortable for one-handed use
- Ten-LED frontlight is nice and even
- Included battery case looks nice and extends the runtime to eight weeks
- Amazon's e-book...
- Shorter battery life when separated from its case
- No ambient light sensor
- which is strange since this is a feature on the cheaper Kindle Voyage
- The asking price is steep
- and the Paperwhite is going to make the most sense for most buyers
Kindle Oasis, the e-reader you have to have even when you don't
There's no good reason to hand over $449 for an Oasis when you can spend just $294 for the perfectly adequate Kindle Voyager, even if the Oasis is thinner, lighter and altogether more appealing than the Voyager.- No water resistance
- Expensive
Kindle Oasis REVIEW- Oh dear, how will I ever return to the Kindle Paperwhite
I'm a huge fan of my Kindle Paperwhite . I bought it about a year ago and have cruised through dozens of books, reading night and day. It has, until the moment I set my hands on the Kindle Oasis, filled my every need for an eReader.
Let me begin with a question to existing Kindle owners. Have you, ever since you have bought your Kindle, felt the need to upgrade? Well, chances are that your answer is No. And, Amazon is desperately trying to turn that answer into a Yes.
Kindle Oasis review: Amazon's newest e-reader is nearly perfect
A typical iPhone or iPad is capable of doing damn near anything you need it to-so long as you don't need to do it in direct sunlight. And while those devices certainly become more energy efficient over the years, heavy users like me still find it difficult to get through a full day without having to...
