Best processor I ever purchased in 2011. In 2018, I have now OC'd my 2500K to 4.8ghz (with closed loop water cooling). Runs amazingly well to this day without a hiccup. I'm going to push this thing until DDR5 or (2019/2020) whichever comes first.

Great product, suitable for my needs at time of purchase rigging out a new gaming system, still working great so no complaints, would highly recommend.
I do some light to moderate PC gaming, and with my old GTX 560, this was able to perform well with Guild Wars 2, DMC: Devil May Cry, and Tomb Raider 2013.
3+ years and no hiccups whatsoever; Up until 2 months ago it had the stock Intel cooler, and the temperature was never a problem; Still no need to replace
None that I can think of; except it being 2015 maybe it's age
I built up a computer with this processor 3 years ago and it is still not possible for reasonable money to buy a processor that beats this. With a new i5 text seems you win type 10% in processing power, so it's hardly worth the upgrade if you sit on such a golden oldie.
Today marks the launch of a new CPU architecture and chipset family from Intel marking the replacement for the Clarkdale and Allendale platforms that used the LGA-1156 interface. This marks a top-to bottom change as the new CPUs cannot be used on a motherboard using older chipsets.
Best Cpu for gaming. I still have a goal in mind to build another pc using this CPU. I got this for a good price. They are hard to find. But definitely worth getting.
Although I wasn't expecting much for general computing, the i5 2500k surprised me in CPU intensive tasks and applications, such as open-world games for example. I found it to be much faster in Microsoft's FSX, and I haven't even overclocked yet. Great CPU for the money!
Bought for a customer who wanted a editing computer with OC capabality, didnt go with ivy at teh time due to overheating chip issues reported. Ran great and fast Oced to 4.4 with a little vcore bump and ran stable with decent temps, maxing out at 56 degrees.
-Fast; -EASILY overclocks
Price; pretty expensie for older tech
I have built quite a few units with this cpu and after comparing this cpu to the 2600k, and the 2700K, I found that it can be O'C to higher ratings while remaining relatively cool. This cpu is much sought after because of this, like the 875K, it will be a winner for a long time.
