Huawei Watch GT Runner review: Giving competitors a run for their money
With the GT Runner, Huawei has created a compelling smartwatch for runners that ticks many of the right boxes. It has long battery life, super health monitoring, accurate run tracking and a lightweight, waterproof design that makes it ideal for wearing all year round. However, it's not without its omissions.- Lightweight design makes it ideal for exercise
- Bright and colourful AMOLED display
- Dynamic running plans are very useful
- Accurate fitness and workout tracking
- Decent battery life
- Limited contactless payment support
- No support for music streaming
- Third-party app selection is poor
Huawei Watch GT Runner review: a great alternative for runners review

- Useful running software features
- Works with external heart rate monitors
- Few great running apps available
- Promised GPS improvements not quite there
- Smartwatch experience favours Android users
Huawei Watch GT Runner review
A dependable mid-range sports watch, the Huawei Watch GT Runner shares a lot of DNA with other wearables in the GT series, but puts a fresh spin on things with a lighter design optimized to establish a faster GPS lock. The AMOLED display is stunning, battery life is impressive, and the training tools are well suited to both new runners and those who've found that their training has stalled. Experienced athletes may want more accurate location tracking and detailed mapping, and there's no US release on the horizon, but it's a worthy rival to the likes of the Garmin Venu 2 is you're aiming to kick your training up a notch.- Excellent heart rate monitoring
- Lightweight and comfortable
- Super bright and clear display
- Beginner-friendly training tools
- No contactless payments
- GPS less accurate than expected
- Not available in the US
Huawei Watch GT Runner review
The Huawei Watch GT Runner is the ideal wearable if you're passionate about running, whether you're new to the sport or training for your next marathon. It's lightweight, with insightful analytics and the battery lasts for days at a time, but it's also a little lightweight on traditional smartwatch features.- Great lightweight design
- Gorgeous bright detailed display
- In-depth running tracking and feedback
- Basic smartwatch functionality
- Feature limitations on iOS
- No smaller 42mm variant
