For thirteen years, Guerrilla Games have been tied to the Killzone IP. I'll never hide the fact that I'm not a fan of Killzone. It also left me with a perception of Guerrilla that was all wrong. I'd come to believe they couldn't make anything other than a generic FPS.

Incredibly well realized open world with a host of meaningful content; Aloy is one of the best characters in gaming with an excellent story; outstanding personality and perfect growth; One of the best looking games to date; showing exactly what the PS4 can handle

Some side characters are just sat in the uncanny valley and could have done with a little extra work

Horizon Zero Dawn: A Beautiful Game Marred by Cultural Appropriation

Horizon Zero Dawn delivers its promise of robot dinosaurs in a gorgeous openworld adventure. Unfortunately, it also delivers a masterclass in cultural appropriation, with no respect for the real world cultures it borrows from to lend its fantasy world a hint of ‘exotic tribalism'.

A Post-Apocalyptic Masterpiece

The post-apocalyptic setting isn't exactly virgin territory for games these days. Big-budget AAA titles like Bethesda's Fallout series and Naughty Dog's The Last of Us are amazing examples of how to do the post-apocalypse justice.

Excellent game to enjoy with the family

I honestly don't find this game one to avoid playing in front of small children. My rating is more of when I think a child may be capable of playing it, as it is rather challenging. Another person said you don't kill humans, and that's not true. You have to kill bandits sometimes.

Hours Lost

The game is worth the dollars and the hours. It's very fun. I stayed up way past my kids bedtime and played for hours without them. I'm a stay at home mom creeping 40yrs old and I could play it with my 6 year old, 18 year old or even my SO. It's very fun.

Horizon Zero Dawn review: The best-looking game on PS4 by far

There is something hugely satisfying in booting up an all-new intellectual property in gaming , not least one that has been subject to a fierce hype machine for the last couple of years. Even more satisfying to find out it's good. Scrub that. It's great; truly, splendidly great.

Truly magnificent graphical splendour; 4K HDR on PS4 Pro / HDR on PS4; superb combat system; great new land and story to explore; clever premise with fantasy and sci-fi themes

Takes a long while before the main story and gameplay gets underway

Horizon Zero Dawn review – mechanical animals

State-of-the-art visuals help create one of gaming's most entertaining open worlds, even if the gameplay doesn't quite reach the same standards.

Superb graphics and art design, and a huge, impressively interactive, open world environment; Highly enjoyable combat and stealth, with an interesting array of weapons

Repetition is an issue, and resource farming can be abused; The backstory is interesting but the storytelling is workmanlike

Horizon Zero Dawn review

Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2017, exclusive to the PS4 and PS4 Pro. But what makes the post-apocalyptic world of Horizon Zero Dawn so attractive? Apart from roaming mechanical dinosaurs and a fiery red-headed heroine, of course.

Horizon Zero Dawn

A few hours into Horizon Zero Dawn , Sony's heavily-hyped open-world action-adventure, Empire finds itself stalking a mechanical, Brontosaurus-looking beast dubbed a 'Tallneck'. Upon leaping atop the lumbering monster's back, we scale its elongated nape before jabbing a spear into its enormous,...

Horizon: Zero Dawn review – a stunning but barely evolved RPG contradiction

On the face of it, a lavish and original fantasy epic set in a wonderfully realised world sounds like a welcome escape from the very real horrors being played out across the nightly news bulletins.
