When the Vive and the Oculus Rift came out in the spring of 2016, they did something incredible: they made VR actually worth caring about. Previously, the closest thing people had come to virtual reality were weird sci-fi movies or half-baked products like the Virtual Boy .

HTC Vive Pro review: The best VR experience, bar none... if you can afford one
The HTC Vive Pro includes a number of different design improvements that potentially make it a worthwhile upgrade for current HTC Vive owners. It's more comfortable, easier to use, features stunning visuals and much better sound, but it also comes with a hefty price tag.
Pros:
- Incredible visual improvements
- Excellent Hi-Res and spatial sound enhancements
- Comfortable fit and easy adjustment
- Single connection improvement
Cons:
- It's really expensive (as no controllers or base stations included)
- DisplayPort only connection
- Still not wireless
- 90Hz rather than 120Hz refresh rate

If virtual reality is an early adopter market, then the HTC Vive Pro is for the earliest adopters. The first refresh we've seen to consumer VR headsets in two years, it's destined be niche-not so much a Vive 2 as a Vive 1.5, with all the connotations that brings.

The HTC VIVE Pro turns out to be everything it should be. Today, it provides the overall best VR user experience you can find, which is why it is a no-brainer buy for Professionals. For non-professionals, it is less obvious since the VIVE Pro has not been designed to provide the "best value".

Full HTC Vive Pro kit up for UK pre-order for an eye-watering £1299
Although the Vive Pro was released back in March, you could previously only buy the headset. You'd then have to purchase motion controllers and base stations separately. The only problem is its price.
