Until recently, HTC had given its Desire range of smartphones a mini-break, and put more of its focus on the One series. But now we have the HTC Desire X , the first Desire handset to appear since the Desire C earlier this year. Read: more smartphone reviews .

HTC Desire X review

The HTC Desire X is a perfectly decent midrange handset but is let down by its insensitive screen and it doesn't really do a lot to distinguish itself from rivals in this space, like the Galaxy Ace 2 , Sony Xperia P or Orange San Diego .

Ice Cream Sandwich; midrange price

Screen could be more sensitive; sluggish processor; not very distinctive

HTC Desire X

This could be a great competitor the the Galaxy Ace range...HTC needs market this phone right to make it a success like the Galaxy Ace; I've seen so many 3 Network adverts for the Galaxy Ace, thats why it was such a success.

SD Slot; ICS; Price (Maybe

HTC Desire X review

The Desire X is a solid mid-range smartphone – it's not particularly spectacular in any area (except perhaps battery life), but it's not downright bad either. When it comes to buying time, we suspect that the ultimate decider will be the price.

I transferred my Sim to my old dumb phone...

However, my son came for a visit and we managed over three days to tailor the phone to my taste (depart loads of apps!). Now I have smoothly running phone and I love it. Sleek, white, responsive, but it did need experience to start it all off.

HTC Desire X Review: A mid range crowd pleaser

The Desire X is HTC's mid range device aimed at the "average user" who is intrigued by the idea of an Android powered smartphone yet still enjoys the simpler things in life. The Desire X ticks all the necessary boxes with a discreet design, easy to understand interface and surprisingly...

-Neat; slim design - Decent screen...

-No front-facing camera -Mediocre main...

HTC Desire X review

Can HTC's latest budget-friendly Android smartphone with its Snapdragon S4 chip, fend off the competition from Motorola's Atom-based Razr i handset?

HTC Desire X review: one last hurrah for a former flagship?

We liked the idea of HTC doing away with its confusing approach to phone releases, and seemingly random naming convention (Sensation? Explorer?). So, we're still a little curious as to why the Desire brand lives on.

Nice look and feel; Vibrant display; Sense should please owners of previous HTC handsets; newcomers to Android

Dated specifications; Occasional performance glitches
