Review of the HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer

Verdict: With all the fascinating new technology that gets released on a regular basis, it's not often we take a look at the humble printer. While printers were once a significant investment that home users and businesses paid to maintain and repair, over time manufacturers have released significantly less...

HP Envy Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer

3.5
Pros: Above-par photo quality. Good range of connectivity choices. 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF). Fax capabilities. Automatic duplexer
Cons: Ink costs on the high side if you buy individual cartridges. Slightly subpar graphics quality. Limited paper capacity pegs it for light duty or personal use
Verdict: There was a time in which HP's Envy all-in-one printers, which were introduced in 2010, were all about style-at the expense of features and performance. The 7855 is still stylish, though in a tasteful, understated way.

3.5
Pros: Good overall print, copy, scan quality, Easy to set up and use, Small and light, Instant Ink compatible, making for inexpensive photos, Support for Wi-Fi Direct, SD cards, USB drives
Cons: Two-tank ink delivery, instead of four discrete cartridges, High cost per page without Instant Ink
Verdict: This photo-centric AIO prints good-looking documents and photos, and, with an Instant Ink subscription, at low cost. (The photos look good, too, if shy of five- and six-ink competitors.)

Complete garbage

1.0
Verdict: 20 flyers in and they want me to buy ink. Worse with other printers you can ignore this and squeeze more out. Eventually you will see one of the colors bleed out and start seeing red green pictures. HP TURNS OFF COLOR ALL TOGETHER. They are so brutal with their prompts and hardcore ink sales.

Fair

3.0
Verdict: I had a terrible time installing. No manual was provided - had to go on internet - that did not provide instructions on my particular printer - finally found a simple step-by-step by surfing the web. Very frustrating. Lost a LOT of time. Still learning by trial-and-error. I have nothing to go by.

Verdict: Because my old HP printer became obsolete and I desperately needed a printer, this one was suggested. I'm certainly not unhappy with it. However, being 84 years old, new equipment is difficult for me to understand quickly. If I can't figure simething out, I will certainly call HP for tech help.

Love HP

5.0
Verdict: First printer was a Photosmart 1000 and used it until it died. Awesome! Went through a couple more, switched to a different brand due to their reputation for photos. Hated it. Got streaks and glops at random intervals despite diligent cleaning and new cartridges. Came back to the best!

HP Envy 7855 performs exactly as promised.

5.0
Verdict: The HP Envy 7855 fills a very specific role here and does it very well. We use it along with other larger HP printers in our home office. While the bigger printers do the volume, the HP Envy is used for high quality pieces and photos.

Issues with Delivered Unit - Warranty Replacement Cumbersome

5.0
Verdict: This was an untypically disappointing HP experience. Their attempts to simplify setup have become more awkward over the years (i.e - web-based software interrogation of systems to auto-load drivers etc.) Many steps poorly documented between online and very limited documentation-provided.

Great features and user friendly!

1.0
Verdict: I've had this printer for about a month now. I use it once in a blue moon and it hasn't disappointed for what I've needed it to do. Very easy to print documents from my iPhone, iPad, and computer (which makes my life easier). Have not printed photos yet.

Superb office features with some room for improvement

4.0
Pros: -Looks good and the plastics have a solid feel -Automatic. Document. Feeder. I have never been so thankful for a feature. This is a huge time saver for someone like me who frequently sends multi-page documents via fax and email.
Cons: -Slightly bulky with an 18.9 x 19.1 inch footprint, owing in part to the extra tray for photo paper -Average photo printing speed and unremarkable color printing speed -Only way to continue printing photos at a low cost is to use HP's ink subscription service
Verdict: This is an excellent all-in-one printer with every feature I thought I'd never use but ended up needing more than a few times. With the exception of its larger footprint, I have no legitimate complaints about HP's 7855 All-In-One.

Overall a decent printer

4.0
Verdict: I have had this printer about three weeks. For what I need the printer works well. One bad thing I detected was a three fold increase in unwanted e-mails. HP was great in helping to get the printer up and running, but tried to sell extras I didn't want.

Nice printer.... after you work out the set up

4.0
Verdict: Absolutely no problems wither printer. Good quality printing. Very sketchy set up instructions though. Probably fine for most technology literate people, but A bit of A struggle for anyone else. A simple user/set up manual in the box would have been nice.

good after install

4.0
Pros: Compact design, Easy Controls, Excellent Print Quality
Cons: instructions to install need some work.
Verdict: Install was a nightmare, called hp help number, they wanted to charge me $110.00 to install it, access to my computer and change some things to install...not happy allowing someone I do not know access into my computer to change things to install printer that didn't even cost $110.00..

Easy Setup

5.0
Verdict: Setup was remarkably easy for me on this HP 7864 Printer. I used the HP Easy Start app (which you can download from the 123.hp.com website). I first deleted all of my old HP printer software and started fresh with the new installation. Perfect wireless setup on my wifi network.

Disappointed

1.0
Verdict: I have always had HP printers and have never had problems with them, until this one. It was very easy to set up, it even printed the test pages fine, but the next time I tried to print the paper jammed every time no matter what kind of paper I used.
