The initial sensation is of cool citrus burst that quickly melds into a rich floral heart. The undercurrent of dark sensual pervades even the initial chilly note, setting the stage for the warmth of the base.

...I just realized that Shalimar smells very similar to Guerlain's Habit Rouge Pour Homme! Similar, but Shalimar has a more prominent note of powder, whereas Habit Rouge has a prominent note of leather, although both are somewhat sweet. I love them both and wear them both! Very long-lasting also.
I am not particularly a great fan of Guerlain perfumes, I find some of them difficult to like especially some of the newest ones, however I am crazy for Shalimar. This perfume that has been around since the 1920's so it has a whole load of history behind it.
I have been using this fragrance for 35 years and it is complemented by both male and female of all ages. It never fails to please.
I love Shalimar. It is the only cologne I use. The fragrance is not overwhelming and very pleasant even to those who are around me.Everyone always asks "what is that fragrance you have on".
Looking for something a little heavier than a one-note floral, I found the description of a floral medley with vanilla and musk interesting. Shalimar is lovely, fine for parties and other outings--or romantic evenings, but if you're heading to the mall, PTA, or carwash, stick to something lighter.
To me, Shalimar is a classic oriental. It rests on a Guerlinade base and is sweet, warm and spicy. It opens with citrusy bergamot, and dries down to a lovely warm, vanilla-tinted spiciness.
This is the third time and probably the last time, I will purchase Shalimar. When I first started using Shalimar parfum, it was heavier and almost an oil. It now appears to be watered down and the fragrance isn't the same. It is more like the spray cologne from the bottle.
Shalimar by Guerlain has been available since the 1920s so it's not surprising they call it their timeless perfume, sometimes they have a new bottle designed and repackage the perfume. The 2013/2014 bottle was designed by Jade Jagger.
A beautiful powdery oriental fragrance; lasts very well; beautiful bottle for 2014
It lacks the wow factor and might be too heavy for some
I like just a dab on before I go out to plays, to the grocery store, to movies.. just once outside and into the wind.. shalimar I have always used since a teen I am now 64 and though on a budget, and when affordable I will again be purchasing more of the lovely scented long lasting forever memory of...
