Gravity Rush 2 is a flawlessly beautiful set of mechanics wrapped in gorgeous sets, classy music, and a necessary plot. You play Kat, a gravity shifter who very recently saved her city from total destruction.

As Kat weaves in-between buildings, under archways, around spires, and through tunnels, there is this sensation that's bound to overcome whoever is controlling her. It's not just about defying gravity; it's about making it their own.

Gravity Rush 2 hits all the same notes as the first game, but in better and more refined ways. The combat is still pretty dull, but it takes less of a focus this time around. Everything else is much improved, and given how well the first game was received, that's high praise.

Just as charming as the original, but the improved combat and clever new gravity abilities make for a notably better game.

Gravity Rush was pretty much a hidden gem on PS Vita. Since the remastered version hit PS4, however, it's become clear that it's an experience that also translates well to the big screen.

Kat's always been endearingly clumsy as protagonists go - in contrast to her super-ally Raven she's a headlong mess of hair, legs, scarf, flapping awkwardly through the sky and colliding with the ground in a shower of grit.

When I think back to all the games that should have gotten a sequel in Sony's history but never did, I'm reminded of some amazing IPs that, sadly, we may never see again. Thankfully, with the release of Gravity Rush 2, we don't have to add another to that list, and it casts hope on the future of the...

Overall, Gravity Rush 2 adds some fun gravity manipulations while keeping some of the same combat issues from the last game. However, if you look past that, you'll find plenty to enjoy with Kat's continuing adventures.

Gravity Rush 2 takes the strange, quirky style and gameplay of the original and lets it loose on a larger canvas, dishing up its gravity-twisting action with real imagination and verve.
