Gravity Rush 2 is a surprisingly massive and extremely beautiful Japanese action RPG that stands tall despite its flaws.

After a couple of story hiccups, righted itself and pulled me in with the personality of its world and wide variety of activities. The new gravity powers and styles make combat exciting, and well-written side quests and character relationships grant better insight into Kat's universe.

Gravity Rush 2 hits all the same notes as the first game, but in better and more refined ways. The combat is still pretty dull, but it takes less of a focus this time around. Everything else is much improved, and given how well the first game was received, that's high praise.

There's a pure, exhilarating joy to the way Gravity Rush 2 , like its predecessor, allows one to shift gravity on cue-to recklessly fall through the sky in order to fend off the monstrous, gelatinous Nevi. And yet, there's a constant sinking feeling about the whole affair.

Just as charming as the original, but the improved combat and clever new gravity abilities make for a notably better game.

Gravity Rush was pretty much a hidden gem on PS Vita. Since the remastered version hit PS4, however, it's become clear that it's an experience that also translates well to the big screen.

Kat's always been endearingly clumsy as protagonists go - in contrast to her super-ally Raven she's a headlong mess of hair, legs, scarf, flapping awkwardly through the sky and colliding with the ground in a shower of grit.

Gravity Rush 2 is a flawlessly beautiful set of mechanics wrapped in gorgeous sets, classy music, and a necessary plot. You play Kat, a gravity shifter who very recently saved her city from total destruction.
