Grand Slam Tennis 2 Review

I'm not big on sports games, but every once in a great while I need to whet my whistle and play something a little… real. You can only slay dragons, fight demons, and drop blocks for so long before you find yourself desiring a taste of reality, even if it's in virtual form.

Beautiful environments; Plenty of big names; Twin-stick controls are a breeze; Playing online is super smooth

Repetitive commentary; Tags

All 4 major tournaments here; Solid; intense online modes; Classic matches are superb

Too-easy-at-start Career; Loading menus take forever; Hyper-repetitive commentary

Good visuals and accessible controls can't mask Grand Slam Tennis 2's weak career mode.

Grand Slam Tennis 2 comes to the sports gaming sphere when fans of the sport already have two other options: Top Spin 4 and Virtua Tennis 4 . To stand out from its competition, it's coming onto the court as the only game with all four Grand Slam venues and a deep roster of legendary players,...

Only tennis game with all four Grand Slam venues; Various control options that are all easy to grasp; Great roster of classic players

Weak career mode; Only a few court locations; Female roster lacks top stars

PS3 Review - 'Grand Slam Tennis 2'

With sports video games, I tend to enjoy the slightly less mainstream offerings, tennis and golf, a little more than most. Of course I like football and baseball, but developers seem to be more willing to take chances with tennis and golf titles.

Unforced Errors

Grand Slam Tennis 2 lacks the attention to detail and strong follow through that the EA Sports label is commonly associated with. While the good ideas and production values are indeed present and accounted for, the execution is notably absent.

Grand Slam Tennis 2 (PS3) - Review

Get used to those words, you'll be hearing them a lot. Grand Slam Tennis is, to the best of my knowledge, the first tennis series to ever feature commentary. The superb commentary of John McEnroe (the best commentator and analyst in the industry) and Pat Cash in Grand Slam Tennis 2 makes it feel...

It's Güd

this is an EA title. this is a Pre-Aids EA title. Grand Slam Tennis 2 like most EA titles from the time, is a mix between realism and arcade ish gameplay. the graphics are surprisingly good. the sound is not so good.

Think of GST2 is a hybrid between Top Spin and Virtua Tennis. It doesn't have the slow paced, ultra realistic moves and controls from TS nor does it have the rapid and arcade moves of VT. This equates to a sports title that is both fun and easy to pick up.
