Smaller but brighter screen leads upgrades for Google's everyman smartphone- Compact body built to a high standard, Finally, a bright display with a high refresh rate, Cameras remain brilliantly capable
- Performance, battery a step back from class leaders, Some software being Pro-exclusive feels arbitrary, Even wider gulf in ability to Pixel 8 Pro than previous years

Google Pixel 8 Review: A Serious AI Upgrade And A Price Bump
The Google Pixel 8 is an absolutely fantastic mid-range smartphone, despite a few minor complaints. The camera in particular is an amazing upgrade from the Pixel 7, or indeed most other phones in general.Google Pixel 8 5G (8GB RAM, 128GB, Obsidian) - Brand New review
At the end of the day, the Pixel 8 is a really well-rounded phone. It has got almost all the bells and whistles you would expect from a ‘flagship’ phone – competent hardware, excellent cameras, and beautiful display – packed in a cute little shell.- Ergonomic design (splendid display), Cameras are excellent as always, Clean software with a pinch of AI trickery (brownie points for 7 years of promised software support)
- Tensor G3 can run hot sometimes
Google Pixel 8 review: A justified price rise?
The Google Pixel 8 doubles down on AI and makes tweaks in several key areas – but these improvements come at a price- Tremendous AI camera tricks, Big battery life boost, Lengthy software support
- £100 price increase, Only minor design changes, Camera hardware is similar to last year
Google Pixel 8 5G (8GB RAM, 128GB, Obsidian) - Brand New review
The design looks a bit dated, but the Pixel 8 otherwise represents a great buy with impressive camera performance, AI-infused features that remain unique amidst increased competition, and all-day battery life that makes it a joy to use.- Impressive camera performance with unique AI features, Solid 6.2-inch OLED display, All-day battery life, 7 years of OS upgrades
- Dated design, No telephoto lens, Raw performance is behind other flagships
Google Pixel 8 review: A better choice a year on
The Pixel 8’s price hike compared to the Pixel 7 has been reversed in the UK, making it a much better buy than at launch. With the Pixel 9 even more expensive, this older model is definitely worth Considering, especially with software updates continuing until 2030.- Outstanding main camera, Impressive performance, Excellent Android 14 software, Six more years of updates
- Underwhelming battery life, Slow charging, No telephoto camera
