Google Pixel 5 Phone review
The Pixel 5 has a lot to prove. Google’s 2020 flagship not only needs to convince shoppers to open their wallets in an unusually challenging year, but demonstrate that the sins of last year’s Pixel 4 are not to be repeated.- Aggressively priced, Android 11 runs smoothly & gets latest Google features, Excellent camera performance, Battery life holds up to all-day use
- No optical telephoto, No headphone jack, Other phones support faster charging
Google Pixel 5 Phone review
The Pixel 5 is an excellent Google phone that gets back to the basics of being a good smartphone while adding useful features and nice touches. The battery life is solid, the 90Hz screen is good and smooth, the fingerprint scanner on the back is simple and fast, and the camera is another masterclass...- Pros: great camera, good screen, great software and update support, good battery life, relatively small, fairly inexpensive, recycled aluminium.
- Cons: no headphone socket, no flagship processor, no expandable storage.
Google's Pixel 5 Got Tiny Upgrades In All the Right Places
By skipping all the quirky, Google-ly features of previous Pixels, the company's latest phone is its most boring—and its best.- It's compact! Really nice screen, great battery life (finally), and good performance. Helpful Assistant features. Great cameras, especially at night. There's 5G support, water resistance, NFC, and wireless charging, plus you get three years of security and Android version upgrades.
- The camera's video modes are welcome, but the quality still lags behind the competition. Not the best value.
Google Pixel 5 review review
- Consistent camera quality
- Uncluttered take on Android
- Gets the essentials right
- Performance only average
- Hardware doesn’t excite like previous Pixels
- No 3.5mm jack, expandable storage
Google Pixel 5 Phone review
Google Pixel 5 steadies the ship after a turbulent time last year. There’s certainly a lack of innovation but, at an attractive lower price, the Pixel 5 offers plenty of strong features to delight Android fans.

Google Pixel 5 Phone review
Google Pixel 5 Software, Features And User Experience We’ve always been big fans of Google’s clutter free, polished, and speedy approach to Android. The Pixel 5 continues this trend, and comes with an almost stock build of Android 11 out of the box, enhanced by a bunch of delightful Google-y...- Amazing camera, Beautiful display, Solid battery life, Wireless charging, Great user experience
- Expensive, mmWave tax, No XL version, Middling speakers
Google Pixel 5 Review: Soft Reboot
Google’s latest Pixel is more interested in being better value than just plain better. Rather than raise the price and stakes, the follow-up to last year's Pixel 4 drops a few thrills, learns a few new tricks and tries to position itself as the no-compromise candidate for those who want a premium Android experience but don’t want to spend upwards of $1000. It’s a soft reboot that’s iterative and familiar enough to satisfy fans but still cheap enough to entice newcomers.- Great price
- Stunning camera
- Sleek software
- Softcore specs
- No Face Unlock
Google Pixel 5 Phone review
I’m going to be totally honest with you. I don’t really understand Google’s phone strategy right now. And for what it’s worth, I’m not really sure Google does either. I wrote about it here , but I’ll save you from having to read an additional 800 words on top of all these.
Google Pixel 5 review
With fewer attention-grabbing features than previous models, and hardware that's a distinct step down from today's flagships, the Pixel 5 is about as mainstream as Google's phones have been for some time. It still takes excellent photos, is quick enough for most users and does the basics extremely well. 5G support also ensures it's fairly future-proof - but rivals offer the tempting choice of more cutting-edge hardware or unbeatable performance. A OnePlus Nord packs almost as much punch for nearly half the price, while Samsung's Galaxy S20 5G FE gets a top-end CPU for only £100 more. For the truly budget-conscious, a Pixel 4a 5G seems to make more sense. For some, the appeal of fast and guaranteed software updates will outweigh the Pixel's limitations - but we think they'll probably be in the minority.- Consistent camera quality
- Uncluttered take on Android
- Gets the essentials right
- Performance only average
- Hardware doesn't excite like previous Pixels
- No 3.5mm jack, expandable storage
