Google Pixel 5 Review: Soft Reboot
Google’s latest Pixel is more interested in being better value than just plain better. Rather than raise the price and stakes, the follow-up to last year's Pixel 4 drops a few thrills, learns a few new tricks and tries to position itself as the no-compromise candidate for those who want a premium Android experience but don’t want to spend upwards of $1000. It’s a soft reboot that’s iterative and familiar enough to satisfy fans but still cheap enough to entice newcomers.

Google's Pixel 5 Got Tiny Upgrades In All the Right Places
By skipping all the quirky, Google-ly features of previous Pixels, the company's latest phone is its most boring—and its best.
Pros:
- It's compact! Really nice screen, great battery life (finally), and good performance. Helpful Assistant features. Great cameras, especially at night. There's 5G support, water resistance, NFC, and wireless charging, plus you get three years of security and Android version upgrades.
Cons:
- The camera's video modes are welcome, but the quality still lags behind the competition. Not the best value.
