Google Pixel 2 is a 5.0-inch smartphone that sports a lot of Google technologies. The second generation Pixel also includes the larger Pixel 2 XL phone.

A Smarter Smartphone

The Pixel 2 brings a lot of intelligence to the smartphone market, including stepped-up Augmented Reality.

Google Assistant Has The Edge

More smartness in the form of Active Edge - simply squeeze the lower half of the Pixel 2 to launch Google Assistant. Use voice command on Google Assistant for hands-free operation, and enjoy a host of other features that will help you find a good restaurant, bring you the news, act as a virtual travel agent, fire up your Netflix and so much more.

One Of The World's Best Cameras?

Going by the positive reviews from tech experts, the answer could well be yes! Cameras are hugely important features in any smartphone, and the 12.2-megapixel sensor in the Pixel 2, combined with Google's image processing is said to be producing some wonderful results. Meanwhile, optical image stabilisation gives you steadier footage when you want to shoot video.

Short Charge, Long Life

Battery life is a vital factor, especially as we demand more from our smartphones. The Pixel 2 promises a 15-minute charge to supply 7-hours of battery life.

A newer model Google Pixel 3 64GB was released in July 2018.

Camera

I just received it after ordering it in Dec. Great but the selfie can... your eyes are directed in lol directions other than the focus lense regardless where you look so it's frustrating.

  • Dual front-facing speakers
  • Premium water-resistant body
Cons:
  • Bezels really stand out in 2017
  • No 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Camera app could be better

Google Pixel 2

Last year's inaugural Pixel was such a slam dunk, I expected this year's Google Pixel 2 -- and larger Pixel 2 XL -- to carry Google's phone even further. In the most important ways, it has.
Pros:
  • Google's Pixel 2 has a superb camera with OIS and excellent low-light shooting
  • It's water-resistant and Google Lens calls up a trove of information to help you explore your surroundings
Cons:
  • The phone's battery doesn't keep pace with the Pixel's competitors and its Portrait Mode isn't as smooth on dual-camera phones
  • Its design feels dated and it doesn't have wireless charging or a headphone jack

Google Pixel 2 review: Pixel 2 still has an amazing camera, but its followup is expected later this year

Buy the Pixel 2 for one of the best cameras on any Android phone and fast Google updates, but be aware that an upgrade is likely coming in a few months. The Google Pixel 2 reviewed here launched in October 2017 to positive reviews, cementing Google's place as a serious smartphone competitor. In addition to impressing Android users, the Pixel 2 also managed to entice iPhone users away from the iPhone X.
Pros:
  • Google's Pixel 2 has a superb camera with OIS and excellent low-light shooting
  • It's water-resistant and Google Lens calls up a trove of information to help you explore your surroundings.
Cons:
  • The phone's battery doesn't keep pace with the Pixel's competitors and its Portrait Mode isn't as smooth on dual-camera phones
  • Its design feels dated and it doesn't have wireless charging or a headphone jack.

Google Pixel 2 review: No frills, but a great camera and fast Android updates

The Google Pixel 2 hides its light under a bushel. The physical design is demure, Android 8 doesn't look much different at first glance, and without a UI overlay or third-party software, bells and whistles are few and far between.
Pros:
  • Very good performance
  • Great camera
  • Fast battery charging
  • IP67 dust and water resistance
  • Guaranteed speedy Android updates
  • Clever use of fingerprint reader and squeezable sides
Cons:
  • Moderate battery life
  • Tall chassis
  • No microSD slot or 3.5mm headphone jack
  • No wireless charging
