GoPro Hero 6 Black
According to the market buzz, this is a BIG step up for the Go Pro. How big? Let's find out in this buying guide.
QuikStories With a Happy Ending
Download the free Go Pro and Quik mobile apps and take advantage of QuikStories, where you can send footage to your phone and let the app automatically edit it into the breath-taking video. Much of the buzz around the Hero6 Black is around this feature.
Twice The Performance
Much of Go Pro's "big step up" has to do with 4K60 and 1080p240 video, capable of delivering twice the performance of its predecessors.
A Sharper Image
The Go Pro Hero 6 Black also promises the best image quality ever, thanks to a brand new GP1 chip which has been optimised with this Go Pro model in mind.
Steady As It Goes
Smooth, stable footage really enhances the viewing experience, and the Go Pro Hero 6 Black delivers there as well, with what they call their most advanced video stabilisation yet.
It's Faster As Well
With 5 GHz Wi-Fi, copying video and photos to your phone is a much faster experience: 3 x faster offload speeds to be precise.
Low Light Is Alright
Another improvement in the Hero 6 Black is enhanced image quality for both video and photos in low-light.
Tougher Than Ever
These upgraded and updated features are housed in a tough and strong body. As a Go Pro is often used in and around water, you'll be pleased to know the Hero 6 Black is waterproof up to 10 metres.

GoPro Hero 6 Black : An excellent but pricey action camera
A superb action camera with great image quality and image stabilisation; but rather pricey- 4K video recording at 60fps
- Great image stabilisation
- Same excellent design as Hero 5
- Much more expensive than Hero 5
- Poor image quality in low light
- App needs polish
The Key is to Accept it's Limitations
I intend to use this while flying an airplane and riding a motorcycle. For me, the principal limitations are abysmal low light performance, unacceptable sound quality and understandably limited battery life.
Really bad, they have become GoPro, though it does not get the highest because it turns off battery. So next update, we hope that GoPro works with how the cameras drag power instead of increasing all pixels and slow motion.
GoPro Hero 6 Black Action Camera 4K Video, Waterproof Design (10M), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 2" Touch Display
Image stabilization works really well, Voice control is convenient, but the battery drains very fast when turns it on, and sometimes it plays up cannot respond to any actions you have to pull the battery out to restart it.

GoPro Hero6 Black In-Depth Review
Overall, I'm blown away by the GoPro Hero6 Black. As regular readers know, I'm all about a few core things, and in particular with action cameras: Image quality, ease of use, and the end-state specs. And in all three categories this nails it, especially image quality.GoPro Hero 6: hands on review
