GoPro Hero 6 Black
According to the market buzz, this is a BIG step up for the Go Pro. How big? Let's find out in this buying guide.
QuikStories With a Happy Ending
Download the free Go Pro and Quik mobile apps and take advantage of QuikStories, where you can send footage to your phone and let the app automatically edit it into the breath-taking video. Much of the buzz around the Hero6 Black is around this feature.
Twice The Performance
Much of Go Pro's "big step up" has to do with 4K60 and 1080p240 video, capable of delivering twice the performance of its predecessors.
A Sharper Image
The Go Pro Hero 6 Black also promises the best image quality ever, thanks to a brand new GP1 chip which has been optimised with this Go Pro model in mind.
Steady As It Goes
Smooth, stable footage really enhances the viewing experience, and the Go Pro Hero 6 Black delivers there as well, with what they call their most advanced video stabilisation yet.
It's Faster As Well
With 5 GHz Wi-Fi, copying video and photos to your phone is a much faster experience: 3 x faster offload speeds to be precise.
Low Light Is Alright
Another improvement in the Hero 6 Black is enhanced image quality for both video and photos in low-light.
Tougher Than Ever
These upgraded and updated features are housed in a tough and strong body. As a Go Pro is often used in and around water, you'll be pleased to know the Hero 6 Black is waterproof up to 10 metres.

GoPro has always occupied a fairly tight niche of camera users. In fact, there are almost certainly more people who own the action camera than have lives gnarly or radical enough to actually need them.
GoPro Hero6 Black review: is more power everything
The GoPro Hero6 Black is undoubtedly the most powerful action camera the company has created yet, but it's also the most expensive and still has a few areas, like compatibility, price and stabilisation, left to improve on.- Higher frame rates
- Still waterproof to 10 metres without a case
- 5GHz Wi-Fi for faster transfers
- Expensive
- HEVC codec not compatible on all devices
- Low light shots still suffer
Nice compact design loaded with features.
Upgraded from the Hero 5 mostly for the digital zoom option. crystal clear video and stills every time. A wide range of accessories make it a great camera for many applications. Threw it in my pocket and captured over 1000 images and a bunch of video on a recent vacation.
GoPro Hero6: Review
GoPro has been the leader on action cameras from the very beginning, and its brand has attained a kind of Xerox-like omnipotence - despite the company's ongoing struggles in recent years.
GoPro's Hero6 Is Still the King of Action Cameras
A more expensive action camera with gorgeous slow motion.- The slow motion is insane
- as is the dynamic range
- A couple of irritating bugs and so so mic quality
GoPro Hero6 Black review
The GoPro Hero6 Black instantly becomes the best action camera you can buy based on the specs. 4K at 60fps and super-slow-motion 240fps at 1080p footage in such a small, versatile action camera make it a cinematic marvel.- Durable
- waterproof body
- Slick 4K video at 60fps
- Super-slow-motion 240fps video
- Improved image stabilization
- Much better Wi-Fi transfer speeds
- Still requires patience to operate
- Controls can be cumbersome
- An expensive hobby gadget
Great potential but shoddy build quality
The GoPro Hero 6 offers typical high quality shots... when it works.I have had numerous issues from the very start:* The compartment flaps do not close firmly or seamlessly and require some wiggling to get them to seal properly.
GoPro Hero 6 Black review: The Hero returns with a new soul
The name ‘GoPro' is generally associated with one thing - adventure and action cameras. If you are an adventure seeker, then a GoPro should be your must-have third eye. Recording the most thrilling moments of your life from a fisheye perspective and sharing it with the world is a great type of...
Really bad, they have become GoPro, though it does not get the highest because it turns off battery. So next update, we hope that GoPro works with how the cameras drag power instead of increasing all pixels and slow motion.

GoPro's 4K and HD action cameras are some of the best known devices of their kind on sale today and with good reason. They excel in their market niche like almost no other competitor.- Awesome
- Fantastic electronic image stabilization
- Visuals on photo and video are better than ever
- Mobile app is great
- Tough
- weather resistant design
- Fits GoPro Hero 5 accessories
- Much faster WiFi transfer
- 4K shooting drains power and memory
- Controls still a bit clumsy
- Pricey 4K action camera
