GoPro Hero 6 Black
According to the market buzz, this is a BIG step up for the Go Pro. How big? Let's find out in this buying guide.
QuikStories With a Happy Ending
Download the free Go Pro and Quik mobile apps and take advantage of QuikStories, where you can send footage to your phone and let the app automatically edit it into the breath-taking video. Much of the buzz around the Hero6 Black is around this feature.
Twice The Performance
Much of Go Pro's "big step up" has to do with 4K60 and 1080p240 video, capable of delivering twice the performance of its predecessors.
A Sharper Image
The Go Pro Hero 6 Black also promises the best image quality ever, thanks to a brand new GP1 chip which has been optimised with this Go Pro model in mind.
Steady As It Goes
Smooth, stable footage really enhances the viewing experience, and the Go Pro Hero 6 Black delivers there as well, with what they call their most advanced video stabilisation yet.
It's Faster As Well
With 5 GHz Wi-Fi, copying video and photos to your phone is a much faster experience: 3 x faster offload speeds to be precise.
Low Light Is Alright
Another improvement in the Hero 6 Black is enhanced image quality for both video and photos in low-light.
Tougher Than Ever
These upgraded and updated features are housed in a tough and strong body. As a Go Pro is often used in and around water, you'll be pleased to know the Hero 6 Black is waterproof up to 10 metres.

GoPro Hero6 Black In-Depth Review
Overall, I'm blown away by the GoPro Hero6 Black. As regular readers know, I'm all about a few core things, and in particular with action cameras: Image quality, ease of use, and the end-state specs. And in all three categories this nails it, especially image quality.GoPro Hero 6: hands on review

GoPro HERO 6 Review – Best Action Camera Yet!
When the HERO 6 Black was first announced, my initial thought was that it was going to be a marginal update over the GoPro HERO5 Black …I was way wrong. - Sharing media still has plenty of road blocks

The GoPro Hero6 Black is the company's answer to challenges it has been facing in the marketplace. Competing cameras have offered similar video quality and, in some instances, more robust video capture.- Compact, go-anywhere design
- 4K video at up to 60fps
- Strong digital stabilization
- Loads of slow-motion video options
- HDR and Raw photo capture

- Wi-Fi video transfers are slow and impact battery life
GoPro Hero6 Black Review
The Hero6 is an excellent action camera, a true class-leading flagship and a significant refinement of the Hero5. But getting back to the question of whether or not it is worth $500. In an ideal world, we would have seen the Hero6 introduced at $400 and the Hero5 would have dropped to $300.- Excellent electronic image stabilization
- 4K/60 and 1080p/240
- Improved dynamic range and color
- Great mobile app
- Refined
- if familiar
- design
- HEVC video is very demanding
