The Gears universe is built on an interesting premise which doesn't feel like it has been properly explored. Replaying the first game, it's difficult to get a handle to the narrative that offers barely an excuse for all the brutal violence on screen.
Gears of War 3 is undoubtedly the ultimate in the series, made especially for the fans with the formula, story and characters they've become to love grown and polished to brilliance.
Undoubtedly the best Gears to date; Four player co-op; Expansive multiplayer modes
Graphically limited by the hardware; Difficulty of four player co-op can be unnerving; Beast mode could have been much more
Third-person shooter Emergence Day comes early. was a disappointment. I'm not a multiplayer type of guy so I can't really comment on that side of things but as someone who played through the original in co-op on numerous occasions the campaign in was tedious with a really weak ending.

There are still a few glitches with Multiplayer that should hopefully be ironed out as the servers become more established. But as games go Gears of War 3 is still brilliant and its Horde/Beast modes provide even more entertainment once the single player campaign has come to an end.
A SPOILER FREE REVIEW. So the final part of the Gears Trilogy is finally with us. What does it have in store for us, but more importantly for the thousands of Gears fans, is the multiplayer up to scratch? But first I better mention that I'm not a Gears junkie.
Gears of War 3 is the absolute business. It plays extremely well on your own, as part of a co-op experience or if you've got the minerals to jump online and leave your mark. The 10-12 hour campaign is a fitting swansong to the series and the multiplayer offers a refreshing change to the modern...
