Good middle range running watch

This is a good step up from Fitbit charge 2 as it has gps. However the first charge requires a heavy duty USB charger. So had to take it back to find this out. Battery lasts for more 6 days as detailed. It hasn't failed yet but the screen is hard to read if you don't have the right watch face.

Excellent running watch

I brought this to upgrade from my old garmin. It is lightweight, has the HR monitor built in and also counts your daily steps etc constantly. Fast GPS locating when going for run and good tracking of the run. I wear it all the time as a normal watch. Highly recommended.

pretty sweet running watch

only had it for 2 weeks but i've been wearing it everyday. hope it lasts at least 2 years otherwise this watch isn't worth it. Was this review helpful
Pros:
  • - fairly accurate strapless heart rate monitoring which is the only good reason to buy this over the 230
  • - daytime activity tracking - cadence tracking - good bluetooth integration with strava - good collection of apps and watch faces to customize
Cons:
  • - expensive AF - battery lasts about a week with just a couple hours of running activity
  • i suspect continual bluetooth sync drains the battery too much
  • - bluetooth range is very short
  • - constantly reconnecting for sync with the garmin app which I hope will be fixed with the next firmware

Garmin Forerunner 235 Review – Best GPS Running Watch

Garmin has a lot of GPS running watches and the Forerunner 230 and Forerunner 235 are the mid-range boss hogs. They are priced at $250 and $330 respectively, however, prices are always changing so you may want to check up on that. In fact, we've seen the FR235 as low as $257 [Check on Amazon] .
Pros:
  • Built-in optical HRM
  • Full color
  • backlit display
  • Super lightweight and comfortable
  • Water resistant down to 50m
  • GLONASS and GPS
Cons:
  • Optical HR sensor is not great for dynamic movements
  • Will not track swimming metrics
  • Battery life was disappointing at 3-5 days (might be updated through software update
  • Does not support triathlons

Perfect for Runners!

Really Great watch for runners!! It has a very clean App and a tie up with My Fitness Pal (for Calorie Intake monitoring), which has most Indian Foods. I would strongly recommend this watch against any of the top end Fitbits. Runners, this is the perfect fitness tracker / watch to start with.

Great Fitness Watch with Notifications

I was sick of using apps to set interval times for runs but I still wanted a smart watch. This watch has everything that I could have asked for; it is a perfect fitness watch with all the features that you would need for running, and it has your smart notifications (calls, emails, texts, etc.

Faulty product

I can't believe littlewoods sent me a faulty item. When I took the watch out of the bag, it looked like it had already previously been opened. Took the watch out of the packaging and it wouldn't turn on, thought I may had to charge it up first, I've had an older version of a garmin watch before so...

An expensive toy rather than a tool for runners

The HRM is not even close to being accurate on this watch. Up to 40 to 50bpm different to several other watches that I compared it to. In addition, it sometimes does not work at all giving an resting reading (60bpm) during intense exercise.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • No Indoor Bike activity
  • Inaccurate HRM
  • Expensive

Big Improvement Over Forerunner 405

I had a Forerunner 405 previous to this 235. Big improvements. I like the buttons vs the bezel which was difficult at best to navigate at times. The screen is bigger and much easier to read with better contrast and bigger numbers.
Pros:
  • Bigger and easier to read display
  • built in heart rate monitor
  • ability to customize display
  • can switch easily to cycling from running
Cons:
  • I wish the display was a bit brighter, in shade with sunglasses, it can be difficult to read but still better than the 405
  • The heart rate measurement can be erratic and unreliable
  • Can't use the old Garmin Training Center computer app which I preferred to use to get a quick view of workout data

Great GPS Watch!

Absolutely the best GPS watch I ever owned, and I've owned 3 prior to this one. Everything works as expected, its comfortable, lightweight, has a big screen. My only concern was reading about the screen not being bright enough, it has not been an issue at all.
