Garmin fenix 5S Review – The Best GPS Watch for Women

Besides perhaps the Apple Watch Series 2 , the fenix 5S has to be the only quality GPS watch out there for women. Sure, other watches exist that have women as their target market, but they either exclusively look like a sport watch or a smart watch or they outright suck.
Pros:
  • Stylish design that's the right size for smaller wrists
  • Built-in wrist heart rate monitor and solid activity tracking features
  • Advanced features for running
  • cycling
  • swimming
  • golf and outdoor activities
  • Robust smartwatch features
  • Easy to use with great battery life
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • No Wi-Fi or sapphire display unless you upgrade

Garmin is historically a company that's been all about fitness and activity tracking, so when buying one of its devices, you pretty much know what to expect. The recently-released fenix 5 series makes absolutely no exception to the rule and puts the focus entirely on fitness, but without forgetting...

Garmin announced the fēnix 5 series at the start of 2017. The idea behind the range being three core watches, the 5/5S/5X, that offer everything you could want or need from a multi-sports watch – and in that mission, the American company have absolutely succeeded.

I contacted Garmin and was told this seller is selling watches for New Zealand not America. It is the wrong time zone. The watch face was also not plumb or straight. It tilts slightly right as you can see in the photo. the circle on top at t5he 12 o'clock position is not plumb between the band.

GPS Doesn't Work

This watch's GPS is completely unreliable in Chicago. I have tried to get help from Garmin several times, only to be told that it can't be expected to work well around water.... So I guess if you're in Arizona then go for it!

The Garmin Fenix 5S is the fitness watch I don't want to take off

Case in point: the new Garmin Fenix 5. Garmin has taken its big, aggressive, I Am A Serious Outdoors Person line of Fenix multisport watches and shrunk it into something that looks a little less obtrusive. It was also designed with women in mind. (Yay!
Pros:
  • Lighter
  • smaller Fenix option
  • Tracks everything and then some
  • Works with iOS
  • Android
  • and desktop computers
  • Long battery life
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • Notification interaction is bad
  • Cluttered mobile app

Lovely but not for me.

Brought this in the blue as I loved the strap colour and needed a watch with great GPS but unfortunately it just wasn't suitable for my needs. Depth to deep on my wrist , not touch screen and white shoulders rather than metal. I couldn't justify it being £200 more than the vivoactive 3 for my needs.

Garmin Fenix 5S review

Hey, guess what The Garmin Fenix 5S is a GPS multisport watch that's neither massive nor ugly. You'd think that's a weird thing to celebrate, but it's quite the accomplishment in this category.
Pros:
  • Best design of the Fenix trio
  • More sports than you can shake a ski pole at
  • Deep analytics
Cons:
  • HR tracking could be better
  • Garmin Connect app needs work
  • Expensive
