If you are a portrait photographer invested in the Fujifilm X system or interested in adding a Fujifilm X system camera to your arsenal, the 56mm f/1.2 R is a must have. It lives up to the hype and works as a top tier portrait lens with fantastic out of focus area rendering.

The best XF lens so far, extremely sharp and no distortion wide open. Bokeh is creamy and control is solid.

Auto focus is still a bit noisy

Excellent quality and razor sharp. I only use it at f/1.2 where the bokeh is lovely and subject selection makes the pictures feel like full frame. On the downside, it is heavy and it is not as fast to focus as the 35 1.4. Slightly faster and it would get five stars.

This very fast lens provides incredible bokeh and excellent sharpness, even wide open. The only potential downside to the lens is the size. In short, it is well worth the investment and an essential lens for X-shooters.

Size and weight

It was fantastic until the barrel separated at the aperture ring while using it. I noticed it felt loose, I look and it's come apart. $999 lens "came unglued." How is that possible And I don't know what to do with it.

This lens was optimized for center sharpness wide open and it is important to note that this is what it was primariy designed for. It is rather successful because at F1.2, you get a pleasant bokeh and decent background / foreground blur, while not having to manage the thinest depth of field like you...

The Fujifilm XF 56mm F1.2 R is a superb addition to the X-series range, offering a classic portraiture focal length and an ultra-fast aperture that produces simply beautiful background bokeh with a minimum of fuss.

Beautiful lens for portraits, excellent build quality. Autofocus is a little slow but no regrets.
