Fujifilm Fujinon XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS ($699.95) is a pricey take on the standard telephoto lens that is often produced to match the low-cost 18-55mm kit lens bundled with D-SLRs and mirrorless cameras .

Edge-to-edge sharpness wide open; Wider aperture than competing lenses; Optical stabilization system; Sturdy build

Pricey; Lacks weather sealing

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS Review

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS ($699.95) is a pricey take on the standard telephoto lens that is often produced to match the low-cost 18-55mm kit lens bundled with D-SLRs and mirrorless cameras. Like its wider sibling Fujinon XF 18-55mm F2.8 R LM OIS($389.00 at Amazon) it's built to a higher standard than say, the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6($399.98 at Amazon) that Sony sells with its APS-C mirrorless cameras. It's an excellent performer, and worthy of our Editors' Choice award. Even as such, its price is a little on the high side. Demanding shooters may want to wait a bit and hold out for the pro-level XF 50-140mm F2.8 R OIS WR; it's set for a 2015 release and has a weather-sealed design to match the X-T1. The 55-200mm($699.00 at Amazon) measures 4.7 by 3 inches (HD), weighs about 1.3 pounds, and supports 62mm threaded filters. It does extend when zooming, nearly doubling in length at 200mm, but the front element never rotates. A reversible plastic hood is included; it...

There's not much bad to say about the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS—it's one of the best 55-200mm lenses we've seen, but it is on the pricey side.

Fujinon XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS

I got this to complete my 3-lens set for my recently bought X-Pro1 and it's just blown me away. It's beautifully made, light, works very smoothly. The zoom ring is still quite stiff but this should loosen off over time I think.

Fabulous IQ; up with the very best

Er...haven't found any yet

Great Buy. will not dissapoint!

I've owned quite a few telephoto lenses. this one is surprisingly a high performer, excellent auto-focus speed and sharp images at all settings. the optical quality is on par with far more expensive lens.

High image quality

Very high image quality with this lens. Fuji system is my surprise of the year. I will buy another Fuji lens soon, a 10-20mm F:2.8 zoom to expand my focal range to 10mm-200mm with Fuji lens. Louis V.

Good Lens

I tried this lens out on a trip to Iceland. We had a lot of rain, and mist.Shots in bright light are excellent. XE 1 does not focus this lens in flat light except at 55mm. After that it cannot achieve focus.

Durable; Well Made

Not For Fast Moving Subje; Not For Flat Light

The XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS is the first telephoto zoom in Fujifilm's X system, and is clearly designed to be paired with the XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS by X-E1 and X-Pro1 owners.

Impressive image quality at all settings; Exceptionally low chromatic aberration; Minimal distortion or vignetting visible in normal use ( via software correction; Essentially silent autofocus; Very effective image stabilization; Convenient on-lens aperture ring; Solid construction

Images can look a little soft on the pixel level (due to software correction of pincushion distortion; Autofocus not as fast as its peers; Expensive

Fujifilm XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS review

The XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS is a relatively portable, well-made telephoto zoom that delivers consistently fine images. Focusing is essentially silent and reasonably fast, at least with static subjects, and the optical image stabilisation works very well. It's a natural complement to the XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS zoom.

X-system owners looking to extend their lens set into the genuine telephoto range without sacrificing build or image quality.;

Lens Test: Fujifilm XF 55–200mm f/3.5–4.8 R LM OIS

In April 2013, this 55–200mm f/3.5–4.8 OIS zoom ($699, street) joined the Fujinon 18–55mm f/2.8–4 zoom ($699, street) to round out a relatively fast and useful XF-series optical system for Fujifilm's impressive X-series of ILCs. How good is it?

Fujifilm XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS

As the first telephoto zoom for the fledgling XF system, the new Fujifilm XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS is a solid rather than spectacular performer, offering an appealing combination of good image quality, excellent construction and handling, and fair value for money.
