Fujifilm Fujinon XF 30mm F2.8 R LM WR Macro Review

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 30mm F2.8 R LM WR Macro ($599.95) joins the X lens system as the first mid-priced macro with weather protection. It fills an important gap, as Fuji owners previously had to pick between ancient lenses like the XF 60mm ($649.95) and the Touit 50M ($999), or the huge, pricey XF 80mm ($1,199) for close-ups. The XF 30mm is a lot easier to carry than the big 80mm, and while it skips some upmarket features like a focus limiter, it's a fine example of a standard angle macro, and a compelling lens for Fuji photogs looking for a prime that can do double duty for snapshots and macros.Standard Angle Macro For the XF 30mm, Fuji went with a classic lens type—the standard angle macro. Like similar options in other systems, the XF 30mm F2.8 trades a bright aperture for close-up focus, in its case close enough to project subjects onto the camera sensor at 1:1 life size. Compare that with the brighter XF 33mm F1.4 R WR, a lens that can gather four times as much light, but o...

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 30mm F2.8 R LM WR Macro lens supports extra-close capture in a standard angle, delivering speedy focus in a compact, weather-protected housing.

Standard angle prime; Supports 1:1 macros; Speedy linear focus; Aluminum construction with dust and splash protection; Excellent optical quality; Carry-friendly size

Short working distance for macros; Long throw stymies manual focus; Omits optical stabilization

Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 isn’t a huge upgrade on the iPhone 13, yet it still is a great phone with a top camera, good battery life and all the iOS benefits.

Clever safety features, Very good battery life, Reliable camera, Fun colours, You’ve got an ageing iPhone: If you’re on an iPhone 11 or older, then the changes here will make a notable difference.

Stuck on a 60Hz display, Minimal differences to the iPhone 13, You’ve got an iPhone 13: The changes from Apple’s previous phone aren’t enough to warrant an upgrade this year.

Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro lens - Brand New review

While it's a shame that picture and sound quality haven't been upgraded, the iPhone 13 was great in these regards and the iPhone 14 is, too Excellent display Admirable headphone performance Solid build quality No upgrades to picture or sound Familiar design Notch is still present

Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro lens - Brand New review

Apple's latest non-Pro iPhone is superb - it's just that it's strikingly similar to last year's effort.

Still an incredible smartphone, Brilliant battery life gets a bit better, Excellent camera system gets a bit better

Last year’s Pro hardware, Wireless charging slow by modern standards, No USB-C; it’s now well overdue

Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro lens - Brand New review

More like an iPhone 13S. The generational upgrades for the iPhone 14 are limited to a few subtle changes. At the same time, however, the base price climbs to 800 USD, while the only true innovation happens inside the iPhone 14 Pro series.

excellent OLED display, dust- and waterproof, fast Wi-Fi, wide range of supported frequencies, great camera, very fast performance, good battery life

display limited to 60 Hz, charging rate limited to 20 watts, no macro lens, wide notch

Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro lens - Brand New review

“The iPhone 14 isn't a huge upgrade compared to its predecessor. But with a great design, screen, performance, and cameras, that's far from a bad thing at all.”

Comfortable, high-end build, OLED screen looks fantastic, A15 chip performs great, Good camera upgrades, Dependable battery life, Helpful safety features

60Hz display, No telephoto camera, eSIM might be a pain for some

Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro lens - Brand New review

Hannah Stryker / Review Geek The iPhone 14 is the latest iteration of Apple’s flagship device. Since its launch, the iPhone has set the standard of what a smartphone is, what it does, and how it looks. Fifteen years later, it’s still doing that.

Top-notch cameras, Amazing display, Snappy performance, Great battery life

It's just "this year's iPhone"

Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro lens - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 isn’t much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it’s still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades
