Fujifilm X-T4 review

The X-T4 feels like great value for money. While it’s not what most would consider cheap, it’s capable of 4K at 60fps and ultra-fast continuous shooting, it’s built like a tank and it’s got a battery that’s unlikely to flake out on you unexpectedly. If you want a reliable, capable and fairly compact mirrorless camera capable of shooting pretty much anything in style, you should strongly consider sailing in Fujifilm’s flagship.

Fast continuous stills shooting; Wide range of video options; Good battery life;

Autofocus not quite there yet;

Fujifilm X-T4 review

The Fujifilm X-T4 is the best APS-C mirrorless camera you can buy right now. There’s enough here to persuade both photographers and filmmakers over the X-T3, including the significantly improved battery life, in-body image stabilization, quieter shutter, and design tweaks that make a big difference to the handling. The X-T4's design is both charming and intuitive, while its class-leading photo and video specs are backed up by powerful performance. This is truly two cameras in one, and very fine hybrid all-rounder.

Solid as a rock; Class-leading APS-C sensor; IBIS is a big bonus for video and stills; Good battery life; Sensible menu system;

AF performance potential limited by choice of lens; EVF behavior in low contrast light; No headphone jack

Fujifilm X-T4 review

The X-T4 is one of the most expensive APS-C cameras available but also probably the most capable. Its autofocus system isn't quite as consistent or refined as the best of its rivals but in every other respect it excels. Its images are attractive, its video quality superb and it's engaging to shoot with.

People shooting both stills and video;

Must-get-the-shot sports shooting;

Fujifilm X-T4 review: The mirrorless boss?

Although it has the same sensor and therefore quality as its X-T3 brother, the X-T4 features a faster burst mode, new and improved battery, better image stabilisation, and greater movie-capture potential. How about that to build upon an already exemplary mirrorless camera?

Super autofocus for still and movies; Great OLED electronic viewfinder and tri-adjustable LCD screen; Impressive speed (15fps burst);

No sensor advances over X-T3 predecessor; Smallest autofocus point isn't the fastest; USB charging can be slow;

Fujifilm X-T4 Review

The Fujifilm X-T4 ($1,699.95, body only) is getting a lot of buzz from enthusiast and pro photographers alike, and with good reason: It's the first X-T camera to feature in-body image stabilization (IBIS). In addition to that headline feature, it offers improved battery life, autofocus, continuous shooting performance, and handling versus the previous-generation X-T3. It's a class-leading product, and the best smaller-than-full-frame sensor camera you can get. In addition to earning our Editors' Choice award, it's also worthy of a full five-star rating. A Bigger X-T3 The X-T4 has a bigger battery than the X-T3 and adds stabilization to the image sensor, so it's understandably a little bit bigger, but not by much. The X-T4 is a smidge taller and the grip is a little deeper, but its 3.7-by-5.3-by-2.5 inch (HWD) frame is still more compact than you get with a similarly outfitted SLR, like the Nikon D500 (4.5 by 5.8 by 3.2 inches, 1.9 pounds). The camera is also a little bit heavier ...

The Fujifilm X-T4 sports class-leading autofocus, a 26MP APS-C sensor, stellar image processing, 4K video, and a stabilized image sensor. Outside of full-frame models, you won't find a better camera.

Pro-grade, dust- and splash-protected body; Excellent EVF; Articulating LCD; 15fps mechanical shutter; Improved battery; Excellent in-camera film looks and Raw processing; Stabilized image sensor; 4K at 60fps

Some might not like flip-out screen; Omits standard headphone jack (though a dongle is included); Smallest tracking focus area not that small

Fujifilm X-T4 review: Perfectly balanced

When the Fujifilm X-T4 was unveiled in February, I thought we might finally have the perfect camera. It looked to remedy every issue I raised with previous X-T flagships by adding in-body image stabilization, a fully articulating screen, and (finally!) a higher-capacity battery. Would there be nothing left to list under the cons section? Not so fast. The improvements are excellent, but a few small quirks remain, one of which caused my camera to simply stop working at a crucial moment during a wedding shoot. At $1,700, the X-T4 is also a more expensive camera than any previous X-T flagship — if cheaper than the Fujifilm X-H1 — putting it closer to full-frame territory. All of this is to say, the “perfect camera” remains elusive. But don’t despair, Fujifilm fans. The X-T4 is still a class-defining model and one of the most refined and feature-complete cameras at any price. Despite adding a gimbaled sensor and a larger battery, the X-T4 gains less than 3 ounces over the X-T3 and is still ...

5-axis stabilization; Fully articulating screen; Impressive low-light AF; 600-shot battery; 15-fps mechanical shutter;

One nagging control issue; Small, low-res LCD screen;
