Fujifilm X-T100 review: Rare misfire for X-series mirrorless?

The Fujifilm X-T100 is a bit of an oddity in the Japanese company's mirrorless line-up: with its power zoom lens attached it functions differently to its X-series family, but not in a way that's particularly proficient for entry-level users, which sees it sit in a place that's neither here nor there.

Good image quality potential with the right lenses; Tilt-angle screen and touch controls;

Focus is off a bit too frequently; Power zoom lens changes X-series use proposition;

Fujifilm X-T100

For photographers simply looking for a good, affordable starter camera, we still recommend the Sony a6000 as our entry-level Editors' Choice. It's an older model, so you don't get a touch LCD or Bluetooth, but it does have Wi-Fi, an EVF, a tilting LCD, and much faster focus and burst capture.

Attractive, sturdy body; Strong image quality; Excellent lens library; Solid control interface; Sharp EVF; Hot shoe and in-body flash; Articulated touch LCD

Frustratingly slow performance; Inconsistent autofocus with ineffective tracking; Touch not available for menu navigation; Raw capture not available at all ISOs; Choppy 15fps 4K video

Fujifilm X-T100

The Fujifilm X-T100 is an intermediate mirrorless digital camera that packs high image-quality with a very rich feature set and efficient controls. The 24 MP APS-C CMOS sensor in the X-T100 offers builtin Phase-Detect AF uses a traditional Bayer CFA and Anti-Alias filter stack to deliver a low...

Extremely low image noise until ISO 1600; Good dynamic-range; Nicely saturated colors; Minimal shutter-lag; Generally responsive; Excellent ergonomics; High number of external controls; Good battery-life

Tendency to over-expose; Strong noise-reduction; Slow autofocus; Poor Auto WB; Not Exposure-Priority; 2s Video capture delay; Below average shot-to-shot speeds

Not the best value

Purchased this as a replacement camera for my hobby as i have had Fuji before and was impressed with the camera. This one though has fallen short of expectations and had to be returned for refund ( pending ).

Fujifilm X-T100 Mirrorless Camera Review

I was introduced to Fujifilm's mirrorless cameras back in 2012 during a press conference that launched the Fujifilm X-Pro1. During the press conference, a Fujifilm representative told Shutterbug's former editor and myself they planned to be number three in camera sales, something that may have...

Fujifilm X-T100 review

Occasional overexposure and some too easily pressed buttons are just minor annoyances. The X-T100 has a simple, classical design, a practical and compact kit lens, and a very effective control layout. The image quality is top-drawer too.

Compact 15-45mm kit lens; Value and style combined; Consistently sharp shots

Average autofocus speeds; CMOS sensor not X-Trans; Prone to overexposure

Fujifilm X-T100

This is a little camera but is power-packed with brilliant performance. It has great build quality. It provides excellent image quality with richly saturated color and good sharpness. It also allows access to all of Fuji's truly outstanding range of X-mount lenses and gives a bang for the buck.

Excellent JPEG quality; Articulating LCD allows for selfies; Wide selection of excellent lenses; USB charging and a long battery life; High-resolution viewfinder useful for shooting in bright light

Prone to overexposure; CMOS sensor is not X-Trans; Using the touch-swipe functions is awkward with touch shooting or auto-focusing

Fujifilm X-T100 is a pretty little alternative to a cheap dSLR

Just a half-step up from its 2-year-old entry-level X-A5 mirrorless, Fujifilm recasts most of the components of that model into a slightly more advanced package. But it's still intended it for the entry-level enthusiast who wants something smaller and more flexible than a dSLR with no compromise on quality.

Fujifilm delivers another stylish mirrorless camera for the phone-camera-doesn't-cut-it-anymore set.
