Shooting and running around a large open world can be hard enough when it is against humanoid enemies. Far Cry 3 takes it a step further and emerses you in a world filled with nasty wildlife and other hidden dangers while trying to make your stake at survival in the world.
Open world; good story; large selection of equipment; lots of tailoring to your needs; skills
Multiplayer a little sloppy
I must confess to being a Ubisoft Montreal fanboy, smacking my lips in anticipation of Far Cry 3's sandbox world for close to a year. I had similar feelings prior to the release of Far Cry 2, going fanboy-batshit over videos of dynamic fire, procedural sky and other words that translate to...
Fantastic, Detailed open world that begs exploration; Supremely satisfying gunplay; Best looking game on PC by a distance; Memorable characters; Side quests never get old
Story isn't particularly strong; Voice acting for generic NPCs is woeful; Underwhelming multiplayer
There really isna€?t a single subtle thing to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, which revels in its own stupidity to almost absurd levels. Taking the mick out of everything we remember from all that cheesy 80a€?s culture, ita€?s bad to the level that ita€?s actually highly enjoyable, in the way that you...
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Image © Ubisoft "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" feels like it could be a much longer, more intense game and still succeed. That's something that can rarely be said about anything you can currently download on the PSN.
It's hard to think of a decade packed with more awesome action and sci-fi movies than the '80s. This was the decade that had The Terminator , Aliens , Cobra , Predator , RoboCop , Commando , and two Rambo movies just to name a few, so it's no coincidence that Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon borrows so...
It's difficult to be too critical of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon when the homage is so pitch perfect. When the writing is this sharp, the action so outrageous and the references so rich with rose-tinted reminiscence, it's tough to accuse the game of emphatically doing anything wrong.
Blood Dragon is the kind of DLC that makes the whole DLC practice worthwhile. It takes the core mechanics and ideas from Far Cry 3 and goes all out with them. Add in a fantastically glorious homage to the best and corniest of the eighties, and you have one hell of a game.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a triumph of ridiculous creative energies, and plays just as fun as its incredible concept would imply. The combat and levelling system may not be as detailed or complex as Far Cry 3, but the main elements that made the original game a great experience are still here to be...
Creating downloadable content that is both fun and exciting, as well as quality work is tricky business, and nobody realizes that more than Ubisoft it seems. Ubisoft has already made The Tyranny of George Washington a DLC hit despite its mixed reviews, and the standalone Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon DLC...
