Epson Stylus Photo R3000 Review

Epson has had a long mainstay in the printer category and with more number of photographers and artists embracing digital photography, a professional photo printer definitely makes for a worthy investment, not only for budding enthusiasts, but also for pros.

Epson Stylus Photo R3000 review

The Epson Stylus Photo R3000 A3+ photo printer takes nine ink cartridges, including three different photographic inks which help to ensure optimal performance in black and white prints: photo black, light black and light light black.

That said, what you get for $550 (or perhaps even cheaper if you shop around) is quite impressive. In fact, aside from the lack a few modern mobile connectivity options, the R3000 isn't that much different from the P600.

It was hard for me to justify the leap to a 13x19" printer because ink and paper is more expensive. But I'm so glad I did it. It was a breeze to set up and and I was printing wirelessly twenty minutes after opening the box.

Epson Stylus Photo R3000 A3+ Inkjet Photo Printer - Superlative Image Quality

The Stylus Photo R3000 is Epson's newest A3+ photo printer targeted at professionals and advanced enthusiasts. It accepts nine ink cartridges, has a 2-picoliter minimum ink droplet size, is able to do disc printing, and sports built-in Wi-Fi. Are you tempted?

Superb color; B&W print quality; Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity; CD/DVD printing; No manual swapping of black ink cartridges

Loss of ink during black inks switchover; Expensive

The R3000 has many features without too many bells and whistles. The quality of printing is first class, I calibrate my monitor before any printer review so I am confident that it is displaying accurate colours, however I still had to to lighten up the files with an adjustment layer before printing.

Superb print quality; Print speed; Large capacity ink cartridges; Compact size; Excellent LCD screen; Build quality

Price; Straight paper path is a clumsy operation

Home printing is still very popular with the enthusiast photographer, especially those using more advanced art papers. For printing A3 at home, there are two brands that dominate the market, and Epson has traditionally provided a couple of these models to choose from.

Epson Stylus Photo R3000 review

For many enthusiast photographers Epson's Stylus Photo R2880 is the printer they use, or aspire to using. Though it produces excellent prints, it suffers from two often cited problems, both of which the new R3000 addresses.
