This printer is not cheap, pricing itself at just under £700, however if you have need for a professional quality, quick printer the Espon Stylus Photo R3000 is the best we have reviewed.
I've owned an Epson 1290 A3 printer for some years now and have loved it like a brother! The 1290 weighs 8.4 kgs with overall dimensions of 609x414x766mm (WHD). Colour: basic beige. The R3000 is quite a different beast: heavy as lead at 15kg and measuring 616x228x369mm, it's styled in black.
We have the Epson Stylus Photo R3000 A3+ printer in for review, who better to review it than someone who sells prints?
This printer is capable of stunning output and on the B&W output alone I would be tempted to buy it as a replacement for my existing machine when it finally fails; Printing is very quiet and if using the normal photo-papers very fast; Gloss prints are very good for a pigment printer; excellent on...
Head strikes and tramlines when using Traditional Photo Paper with borderless prints are unacceptable; Ink consumption during black cartridge swap seems very high (but I believe in line with earlier Epson A3+ printers; so would probably not be a concern for existing Epson users); I have some...
The Epson Stylus Photo R3000 A3+ photo printer takes nine ink cartridges, including three different photographic inks which help to ensure optimal performance in black and white prints: photo black, light black and light light black.
Setup is relatively quick and very straight-forward. After unpacking the R3000 from the large box and removing all of the tape and packaging materials, which took around 10 minutes, you plug the printer in and follow the instructions to insert the 9 ink cartridges.
The R3000 is the follow-up to Epson's highly-rated R2800 large-format printer. It can handle big sheets of up to A3+ in size and uses a total of nine ink cartridges to deliver more professional quality prints. All this technology doesn't come cheap.
Excellent monochrome results; Vivid natural colours; Impressive detail levels; Quiet print engine
Larger capacity ink cartridges don't bring huge savings; Print speeds are a tad sluggish
Such power, such color, Wow! I use this in my graphic design orders. I use this wonderful printer for my own family projects. I am very well pleased. Packaged superbly. I am looking forward to many years of service with my new gem.
Durable construction; Easy To Set Up; Easy To Use; Power
Many Colors Slower; Slow Print Time
If you take photography seriously, either as an enthusiastic amateur or in a semi-professional or professional sense, you need a printer which can reproduce colour and greyscale images with high quality.
CD/DVD direct print; Front panel Pictbridge socket; Easy cartridge replacement
No memory card readers; Slow on plain paper; Multiple setups can be fiddly
I bought this Printer in May 2014 I have used many printers over the years. This was very simple to setup and install. Software went in very easily. Didn't take long at all. The priming of the ink lines when install ink does take awhile. The print quality was fantastic. Very happy with the product.
