Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Review

Four years on, and Splash Damage have delivered a solid and engrossing insert to the Quake universe and a 2007 update to one of the most persistent multiplayer experiences since Counter-Strike. Be warned however, Quake Wars isn't the most accessible entry to the genre...

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Fans of Return to Castle Wolfenstein's quirky and underrated multiplayer mode, Enemy Territory, should be pleased to find that it has been resurrected in the most unlikely of places… the Quake universe. And as odd as it may seem, it's a pretty good fit.

THE VERDICT: It doesn't redefine the genre as much as it may want to think, but Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is an undeniably great game. The tactical depth makes up for the seemingly lacking content - three game modes will last you longer than you expect - and everything is balanced to...

When Enemy Territory: Quake Wars was released in October 2007 on the PC, it was lauded as a feverish multiplayer shooter for its objective-based action set in id Software's rich Quake universe.

Huge maps; Large battles get everyone involved; Unique gadgets and weaponry; Giant missiles

Overpriced; Lacks single-player campaign; No story or mission briefings; Bland textures and environments; No customization or persistent upgrades

Although I didn't review the PC version of Quake Wars (check out Sean's review ) I spent a huge amount of time with the beta and followed the PC version of the game since it was announced.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PS3)

This is a mostly straight-up port, minus any new features that would have been an incentive for Quake Wars fans to migrate from the desk and mouse to the couch and gamepad. A new map, for instance, would have been a great draw for those of us already playing it on the PC. No such luck.

Enemy Territory Quake Wars

Regardless of on or offline modes, players select from five different character classes: Soldier, Engineer, Field Ops, Medic and Covert Ops. The Strogg have their own class names but the attributes are pretty much the same.

on the PC? Yeah, that was when the FPS was still coming into its own and gaining a massive following, and now, more than a decade later, the two franchises are still going strong.

PS3 Review - 'Enemy Territory: Quake Wars'

Genre: First-Person Shooter Publisher: Activision Developer: Z-Axis Release Date: May 27, 2008 Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is a unique pleasure on PlayStation 3. It's the kind of fully realized multiplayer game featuring diverse and useful classes … that, well, transcend their class; the game is...

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

First Impressions My reaction is When the original Quake game was released way back in 1996 on the PC, it was heralded as the first game to ever create a ‘true' 3D look and feel. The Quake game engine itself went through several upgrades over the years, and with each new release in the Quake series,...
