Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space – review

Generally speaking, you either love Earth Defence Force or you've never heard of it. The series started off as a PS2 title with a strictly limited budget, and the funding hasn't changed much since.

It's definitely not for everyone and not the best starting point for newcomers to the series, but if you've played past EDF games, you already know what to expect. This is a great game with enjoyable bite-sized levels for gaming on the go.

The Earth Defense Force franchise is a bit of a cult classic. While none of the games in the series are particularly great, they're usually filled to the brim with fun. Their insane, quirky storylines appeal to anyone with a sense of humor and an appreciation of classic sci-fi.

Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space (PS Vita) Review

Defending the Earth can be a hard job as alien invaders tend not to fight fair. Levelling cities from their spaceships, infesting the planet with giant bugs, and even bringing down giant Kaiju (it's definitely not Godzilla, please don't sue Toho!).

The Only Good Bug...

The Earth Defense Force series is the definition of ‘cult hit'. Originally born under D3's budget-priced "Simple Series" banner, developer Sandlot turned the game's obvious rough edges into selling points, overcoming awkwardness with confident pluck that hooked many a player's heart.

A Mixed Bag

Alright game. It's a port of a European/Japanese PS2 game called Global Defence Force and it shows, the graphics are muddy and it doesn't stack compared to some competition on the Vita (Even from launch games like Uncharted).
