We're back in the saddle with EVGA again today, this time looking at the G2 550W unit. This has been an amazing series of units thus far at the higher power levels, and I'm looking forward to finding out how consistent the performance is down at the lower powered end of the scale.

First power supply I have purchased for my first build so I don't really have anything to compare it to but thus far it has been great. The fully modular design makes cable management simple and everything seems to be of great quality.

Beautiful dark black design. Looks clean and fancy with a no mess setup and absolutely no problems to report. Worth it. I'm really impressed with the Eco mode switch that will kick the fan on under heat stress. I've never owned a PSU without a constantly spinning fan.

Can be installed with fan facing down or up; Eco Mode, which I think is a really cool addition; Came very nicely packaged; Velcro bags for the unit and cables; All black, nylon wire covering and black connectors with good quality plastic that doesn't look like it will easily chip or damage.

A minuscule gripe with the case screws that are provided which only tighten to a certain degree, then spin in the screw hole; I hope this won't be a problem in the future, but I doubt I'm ever going to use a different PSU

Good but be careful with the Socket type as in my country Saudi Arabia the standard and most common is TYPE G But it came with US standard TYPE B

No issue deciding on a power supply. EVGA is the best at providing clean consistent voltage to my new PC. Install was easy and all the cables i needed were in the box and they all worked. easy to route the cables in the Corsair carbide 330R.

Best PSU on the market in that wattage range, the supernova is the gold standard of PSU's. Good quality encase cables, fully modular so great for cable management. everythig is labelled well and instructions easy to understand for non tech'y people.

I wanted a silent PC. I now have one thanks to this! Like "zero-RPM" GPU fans nowadays this one doesn't spin unless you reach a certain load (about 137W I believe with this model), so anything that isn't gaming, encoding or rendering and you can enjoy silence.

Same issue as Vincent; Unit lost its mojo after about 10 months and kept shutting off the system and rebooting constantly; Theres a big problem with this PSU and it can cause problems with other gear because of the faulty engineering; Check out google for more info
