Destiny: House of Wolves Review

What are the ingredients that make up an expansion? Specifically, for what has been marketed as a competitive and cooperative online shooter with role-playing elements. New content for one thing. New areas to explore, too. And perhaps, an increase in level-cap or new skills to try out.

A little Halo, a bit of Gears, a dash of Skyrim, and a pinch of Doom

This is by far the most expansive game ever produced by Bungie. It is very reminiscent of Halo, Gears of War, Skyrim, and Doom. The near visuals lack fine detail, but overall artistic quality is superb lending to decent graphics.

Boring

Bought Destiny today, played it for 5/6 hours already really bored... the story is awful, and without having a "clan" or a "group of friends" playing the game with you, it is insanely dull... Definitely does not live up to the hype it has had...

Destiny 2

You might think that since Destiny 1 failed so abysmally that we would pay no attention to the sequel. If you did think that then you were obviously wrong considering here we are. Day one Destiny 2 clocks in at around 31GB, which is no small amount of space.

The beta period is over

A solid game that definitely has an audience. Might lack replay value, could be too short or there are some hard-to-ignore faults, but the experience is fun.

Destiny: Dark Below

Developer Bungie and publisher Activision have teamed up to launch the first DLC package for their hit game Destiny . The Dark Below packs plenty of additional content and has some fun encounters for players to take on in solo play or online multiplayer.

Destiny

over the last two weeks. I've been spending even more time just trying to figure out what I think of it. For those who aren't familiar,

+ Fantastic gameplay; + Graphics are also fantastic; + Enjoy the fusing of gameplay elements between FPS/MMO/RPG; + Co-op makes the game a lot more fun; + Beautiful soundtrack; + Dancing with random people at The Tower

- Story? Nah, - Terrible voice acting, - Every; Mission; Is; Exactly; The; Same, - Ambitious attempts to fuse different gaming genres, ends up feeling flat, - Lack of split-screen co-op, - Grimoire background information only being available out-of-game, - Disappointingly simple character creator

Destiny: House of Wolves Review

House of Wolves wisely eliminates the worst parts of The Dark Below by offering a faster method to level gear, a better campaign, and varied endgame activities, assuming you have a regular crew to partake of them with.

The Shadow Thief Strike; Fair upgrade system; Mission design

Weak story; Stingy loot

Whatever else it was, 2014's Destiny was a polarizing product, confused about its own identity and therefore confusing to consumers. Was it a failed MMORPG or a multiplayer shooter with a bolted-on campaign? Was it a Diablo- esque loot collection game? Was it a new genre?

On first impression, there's a lot to love about Destiny 2, with stunning graphics and a much more accessible single player experience, but until we're running raids at 2am with a clan full of fellow Guardians, we'll have no idea if this has succeeded or not.
