Dead Island: Riptide review

Dead Island was one of the surprise hits of 2011. It might have been as ropey as a zombie's skincare regime in places, but it made up for it somewhat by offering a brutal and atmospheric open-world survival horror romp set on a tropical resort island.

Love it for excellent co-op and mindless fun or hate it for having various glitches and problems it had – Dead Island two years ago was an ambitious take on gory zombie killing action. Now a sequel is ready to rise from the grave in the form of Dead Island: Riptide.

I played Dead island a few times , before Riptide. I will compare them. Compared to Dead island, riptide has: - less better level design. The dead zones are just small chambers with 1 unique zombie inside. In Dead Island it was quiet a large internal area that you could explore.

Dead Island Riptide

"Though its story falls flat, Riptide still manages to build and maintain an immense amount of tension." "The brutal, weighty melee combat is a well-designed experience you won't find anywhere else...

The creepy atmosphere; The brutal; weighty combat; Killing zombies with friends

The cheesy characters and plot; The retread of familiar locations; Running into occasional technical issues

Dead Island: Riptide Review – PC

Ultimately, Dead Island: Riptide doesn't add much to spice up the basics of the game. If you're still a fan of the game's basics, then feel free to add a couple stars onto the rating. There's a whole new map to explore, and an infinite number of things to kill there, and new weapons to break.

Dead Island Riptide

Dead Island Riptide , the pseudo sequel to Deep Silver's 2011 tropical zombie killing game is a lot like its source material. It shambles along, attempting to reach its goal, but frequently stumbles over its own stupidity and lack of inspiration.

Review Dead Island Riptide: a gore-splurging click-fest

You're bored on the sofa. You flick the TV on and there's a movie just starting. You've got nothing else to do, so you watch it. It's kinda crappy but you can't be bothered getting up. About half an hour in you're still not really enjoying it, and you fleetingly wonder why you're still watching.

Dead Island: Riptide

An attempt to remake the pretty-looking shambler with no effort to improve the balance of game systems or iron out bugs.

Although a variety of factors hold back Dead Island: Riptide from greatness, fans of the original will nonetheless find plenty to like. It's still one of the best zombie-killing titles out there.
