Dark Souls II

If the concept of getting your ass kicked, and hard, by a video game is of little interest to you, then the original Dark Souls was likely a turn-off from every possible angle. In an unforgiving, visually coarse manner, the now-and-again masochistic desires of the common gamer were fed upon and...

Two steps forward and one step back for this incredibly challenging and rewarding experience.

A more refined user experience; incredible online fun and a new world teeming with secrets and terrifying danger

Combat feels less sharp and precise than before; and some of the environments are connected in a rather patchwork manner

Once more into the abyss – Dark Souls II Reviewed

Dark Souls, Demon's Souls… these are games I fell in love with the moment I played them. So much character they had! Beautifully depressing, their every environment conveying a kind of poetic sadness, set in worlds of decaying kingdoms, fallen heroes and dreams gone dark.

Tons of bosses to fight; challenging and fun; A beautifully grim; somber world; New Game+ and invasions offer serious replay value; Tons of builds to use; tactics to follow

The easily frustrated need not apply; Controls feel a bit ‘loose' at times

Dark Souls II

Offering at least 35 hours of play, Dark Souls II is a challenging experience and a satisfyingly in depth game that rewards perseverance and intelligent tactics.

Dark Souls II Review

Is Dark Souls II better than the first game? Is Dark Souls II harder? Prettier? More accessible? I imagine these are the most common questions surrounding Dark Souls II , and they all directly address its status as a sequel.

Dragleic is a bigger world; Beautiful art design; Retains thrill of victory; Simpler covenant system

Reduces player ability to help create difficulty; Occasional framerate issues

Twice the death, twice the pain, twice the game.

Halfway into the first Dark Souls, I quit. I threw my controller across the room and it shattered to pieces. The infamous Ornstein & Smough boss fight proved the tipping point for my tolerance. About three months later, I tried again.

Good, but not as good as it's predecessors.

I am well aware that I am writing a review which is contrary to popular consensus. However, like Mugatu and his understanding that Zoolander's Blue Steel pose is the same expression as all his others, I appear to be highlighting something that other people can see, but seem resistant to acknowledge.

Dark Souls 2

The ‘Souls' franchise has gone from strength to strength since the original title, Demon's Souls, was released in Japan back in early 2009. Initially there were no plans to release the game outside of Japan, but thanks positive sales and review scores, it was eventually released all over the world.

Prepare To Die...Again.

I've loved From Softwares Souls games for a good length of time now and I was really anticipating Dark Souls 2. These games are hard, there is no question about it, but what I love about them is the combination of style; RPG with a bit of hack'n'slash thrown in for good measure and with Dark Souls 2...

good game; good story; true to the souls series

hard; you will die; you will get frustrated; but it's all in the fun
