Strong signal, reliable

Very good signal strength! Easily beats my smartphone's signal strength. This may be important to you, as 5GHz is not great at going through walls, but I have this set up on my computer desk and beaming through two inside walls to get to my 5GHz router about 30 feet away on the opposite side of my...

D-Link DWA-182: A solid performer at all distances

In our latest roundup of 802.11ac client adapters, D-Link's DWA-182 didn't take any first- or second-place finishes, and it finished in third place overall. The adapter measures about 3 inches long, not including its USB interface, but D-Link provides a USB cradle that gives you some flexibility in...

Worked fine for the first few months but then started to randomnly disconnect

Tried to resolve disconnection problems by installing latest drivers from D-Link, and then I tried drivers from a different company that was using the same Realtek chipset. Also tried swapping USB ports (including between USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports). Running on Windows 7 64-bit.

Supports the newer AC wireless protocol Current hardware revision (C1) supports USB 3.0 for greater-than 35MB/s throughput USB stand and cable included; Be sure to extend the cable for better reception

Loses its reliability after a few months; Adapter will disconnect at random

FAILS A LOT

Don't buy this adapter. I've had nothing but problems trying to get consistent, failure free usage. Find another brand, but stay away from this.

Wirelss 5Ghz AC speeds if you're in close range

Connects at 800Mbps on the 5Ghz AC band if you're within close range of your router (max 15-20 feet). After that the performance definitely drops off. If you need the full AC speed on these at a significant distance from the router then you might want to consider adding an additional 5Ghz AC...

Very Good Product, but No Extension Cable as Shown

This USB Adapter works very well and has a very low price, but did not come with the extension cable and adapter-carriage. I definitely wanted that component in order to be able to optimize the wireless signal strength by positioning the USB adapter in the best possible way.

Works as advertised - with a very small footprint

This was painless to install and has been easy to use. The only thing was I saw it for a good deal less expensive on the internet. My fault for not doing my homework before purchasing - because Microcenter has a pretty painless price-matching policy.

D-Link DWA-182 review

The D-link DWA-182 adaptor provided higher performance in our long-range 82 m outdoor test when compared with built-in 802.11n. Short range speed was little different to that of a three-antennae laptop, which is impressive for a two-internal antennae dongle.
