Everybody remembers Crysis 2 not so much for how pretty it was to ogle, but because it eschewed an otherwise concrete open-world formula in favour of a somewhat more linear design approach.

Sequels are supposed to be bigger, better and flashier than the origin game in a series. So when Crysis 2 ended up smaller, worse and less bombastic than the first, it made PC gamers activate their Maximum Rage ability across the ‘Net's forums.

As an alien tech wearing supersuited soldier fighting for humanity you represent the final round in the chamber fired at the unrelenting forces determined to tear our world apart. You are the final hope to save mankind from both an alien invasion by the Ceph and C.E.L.L.

First things first, the Bow!!. That's an awesome weapon to have, and I keep switching back to it every time I have enough ammo. The game play is awesome, and prophet and his suit are more one than ever, the missions more of a linear path , and straight into hell.

There are aliens out there in the chin-high foliage. You hear the rustling and glimpse a black carapace between blades of grass, but you can't tell if you're being stalked by a single grotesque beast, or a horde of them.

Attractive visuals that present a unique mix of the natural and the industrial; Each weapon; including the new bow; is a pleasure to shoot; Open levels and nanosuit powers provide combat flexibility; Entertaining multiplayer modes

Remarkably easy; all the way to the end; Lacks the standout battles of earlier games in the series; AI is easily exploited

Crysis 3 is a natural evolution of the series that melds the gameplay and locales of the first two Crysis titles, along with lots of stuff borrowed from the rest of the FPS genre, to create a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Bought this game for my husband for Christmas unfortunately he hasn't got around to playing it yet but he is a fan of this genre so I'm sure he will love it. Delivery was extremely quick and I am very happy with this purchas overall.

It has some of the best graphics ever seen in a video game, but is that – or the excellent multiplayer – enough to make Crysis 3 a winner?

Superb graphics are amongst the best of the generation; The nanosuit is still an interesting idea and the bow is great; Multiplayer mode is hugely entertaining

Bland set pieces and unremarkable weapons and enemies; Uneven artificial intelligence, and unbalanced difficulty; Story and characters make zero impact
