Review: Crysis 2

Crysis 2 leaps out of a lengthy campaign of marketing and hype and ground stomps into the rubble-filled streets of Lower Manhattan . When it hits the right beats it is a game which is unrivalled in its little sub genre but there are one or two caveats to that wholesome praise.

Looks beautiful on consoles; approaching the best of PlayStation 3 exclusives; The story is compelling and expertly written; The movement and superhuman abilities are used to great effect; Cinematics are fantastic and the vistas often breathtaking

Checkpointing ranges from just acceptable to infuriatingly tough; Voice delivery is often a bit wooden; Some little AI glitches and multiplayer balancing could put people off

Crysis 2

Crytek is back with another graphical power house of a game. But does it live up to the expectations its beauty has set? We've played it and got our review ready, right here...

Great graphics and sound; intense action; good tempo changes; fun weapons; tons of variation

Weak story; some rather boring dialogue

Crysis 2 Review

Furthermore, the twelve maps are graphically just as impressive as the single player campaign, with a variety of iconic locations such as the financial district of Wall Street, or the Statue of Liberty, providing a plethora of tactical options.

The fact it is the best looking shooter on PlayStation 3; Tons of weapon variation and tactical opportunity; The rewarding multiplayer component

The unexciting campaign; Stealth mode feels cheap; The erratic A.I.

Review: Crysis 2

Crytek's Nanosuited sequel is a stellar sci-fi shooter, featuring a gripping single-player campaign, action-packed multiplayer, and some jaw-dropping visuals.

Gripping campaign that plays out across 10+ hours; looks incredible in 3D; great balance of sci-fi and real-world; multiplayer is awesome

If you play first-person shooters on your PC, the very mention of the original Crysis brings to mind lush jungle beauty brought to life by a graphics engine so impressive and flexible that it remains the visual benchmark to which all other PC games are held.

Nanosuit and big levels offer plenty of flexibility; Powerful depiction of a devastated city; The second half is stuffed with awesome; memorable battles; Good-sized campaign and full-featured multiplayer offer lots of lasting value; Outstanding soundtrack

Poor AI detracts from the excitement; Some annoying bugs; The first few hours drag

Crysis 2 Review (PS3)

Sandbox shooting for the cerebral gamer. Woop woop, it's finally here! The sequel to one of my favourite PC AAA titles has brought some nice sandbox action to console players, and offers a refreshing world in which to shoot stuff.

Excellent; engaging single player campaign; fanstastic level design allows for real varied gameplay; great design; visuals and sound; good multiplayer suite; the suit rocks

Gameplay will put off as many gamers as it attracts; multiplayer doesn't offer much that is new; storyline is confusing and not very well explained

Crysis 2 Review

It's no secret that first-person shooters have stagnated. Carbon copies with shinier textures continue to sell incredibly well. Like these clones, Crysis 2 does little to create new material in the genre, though it cobbles together disparate gameplay elements that do create a level of interest that...

Players can creatively traverse levels; Highly polished presentation

Story is not gripping; Can become redundant

Crysis 2 – the PS3 Attitude review

BE STRONG. BE FAST. BE INVISIBLE. BE THE WEAPON". That's EA's slogan for Crysis 2, to prepare us for this suped-up, sci-fi first-person shooter. It wouldn't sound out of place in an eighties action flick, but, then again, neither would Crysis 2.

Crysis 2

Just couldn't get into this game. Don't know if not playing the first had a bearing on that. Good graphics and action but found it no different to a lot of other shooters out now.
