This is a very good PSU. It looks great, I especially like the rounded metal around the modular connectors instead of the standard sharp edges. It's quiet up until high heat high load, which is nice. At full tilt the fan isn't the quietest, but it's not the noisiest either.
A little while ago, I looked at a new Coolermaster unit that marked a dramatic departure for the company. Known as the V1000, it showed all of us that Coolermaster was no longer content with their middle of the pack position in the marketplace.
Expanding upon the success of the V1000, Cooler Master's V850 brings the same performance to the table, but with a tad less power.
Bought to replace a failed OCZ ModXSTREAM-Pro 600MXSP 600w PSU, it seems to have done the job successfully. Chosen for its high efficiency and relatively large capacity as part of a workstation supporting an AMD Firepro W7000, it has proved to be a satisfyingly quiet running unit.
Final Thoughts I've always been a fan of Cooler Master power supplies. It was Cooler Master's Real Power Pro series that really made me go, "Wow!" when I first opened the box up.
– Quality components; – SOLID 12V rail; – Under 1% voltage regulation on all of the rails; – 100% modular; – 5 year warranty; – 80PLUS Gold certified
– None that I found
This a very good power supply. Don't have to worry about having all the cables installed, just use what you need. and is very quiet too. very happy guy here
The Cooler Master V850 is just the 6th power supply we have seen from Cooler Master and it is the first of its new V-Series that we have reviewed. Previously in our testing, Cooler Master power supplies have been split between good and not so good power supplies with the most recent examples being...
Easy to install and allows for a neat installation regarding cable looms Works well and meets my power requirements Yes! I would recommend this unit
The fully modular design is appreciated. I only have one complaint and that is about the cables that come with it. They're generally high quality, but one problem is the edges of the plugs are very sharp. I actually cut my finger while removing some of the cables after plugging them in.
