Linksys WRT160N

A fast and far-covering wireless N-based router doesn't have to cost you a lot of money, just look at Linksys' example. The company's WRT160N is one of the slickest-looking and fastest wireless routers on the market, yet it costs just $169.

Good speed; easy to set-up; well designed

Doesn't have built-in content filtering options; but they're not essential

Linksys Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Router (WRT160N)

You'd be hard-pressed to find a true draft-n router for less than you can buy the Linksys Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Router (WRT160N). Linksys's own RangePlus Wireless Router (WRT110) may be $20 cheaper on the mean streets of Techtown, but it's not a true draft-n machine (it employs Linksys's...

Good price; Supports WPS; Good Web-based management interface

Somewhat slow even for a 2.4-GHz-only router; Buggy installation routine; No support for 5-GHz band; No Gigabit Ethernet or USB connections

Linksys Wrt160n Wireless Router

I've had this router about 2 years or so now, and I have to say it's a pretty solid one. This one is a higher end gaming router , but I've found it to be well worth the money. It was easy to configure other computers into my home network, both under windows xp and windows 7.

Decent but still some hiccups

I recently bought the Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router by Linksys, which I installed in the basement. The set-up materials look easy and seem like they should be, however I did run into some difficulties.

Fast Connection Speed

Difficult To Setup

Linksys WRT160N Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router

The installation was a bit rocky at the start. The "easy setup" CD simply did not work at all. It failed to detect the modem, although it was properly connected. So I called the 24/7 tech support, they answered with a message that said they had an unusually high volume of calls, and instead of...

Faster and Better looking

I had a WRT54G before this, and it would kick me off the network every so often. This router has been consistent and reliable, set up was simple enough, and the wireless N makes downloads a bit faster than before. Not to mention is looks very good in the living room!

Linksys WRT160N

The Linksys WRT160N Wireless-N broadband router has consistent performance, good range, a helpful software application, and a good set of networking features. Its lack of Gigabit and USB support are the only major knocks against it.

The Linksys WRT160N comes in a compact, sleek design; It sports an easy-to-use Web interface and offers a good set of networking features.

The Linksys WRT160N doesn't support the faster Gigabit standard for wired connection; nor does it have USB support

Linksys WRT160N Wireless-N broadband router

The WRT160N's performance met our expectation for a single-band Wireless-N router. On our throughput test, where the router was set to offer the best possible performance, it achieved 40.3Mbps, just a little slower than the 45.3Mbps of the WRT320 and a bit faster than the 40.1Mbps of the WRT400N.

Compact; sleek design; Easy-to-use web interface; Offers a good set of networking features; Included software is very helpful for setting it up with both Macs and PCs

Doesn't support the faster gigabit standard for wired connection; No USB support
