Child of Light

Child of Light is a beautifully created game that looks like some lost fairy tale come to life.

Child of Light

It's Final Fantasy meets Dr. Seuss as Ubisoft delivers one of the best titles of 2014 with the dream-like Child of Light.

Gorgeous aesthetics throughout; Deep and evolved gameplay systems; Great characters; Brilliantly told story; Good value for your money

More progression in terms of mechanics would have been nice; Story is rich on clichés

Child of Light Review (PS4)

Review copy provided by publisher. Review done on PS4 version. Also available on PS3. For information on scoring, please read our Review Policy here .

Beautiful piece of artwork all around; Uniquely simple yet entertaining battle system; Mature/serious storyline; That hair though

Why aren't all the characters animated like Aurora; Not everyone may think art is such a big deal

Child of Light Review

It's so pleasing to see a game this gorgeous actually back that up with impressive gameplay, as long as you're a fan of the genre, that is. An impressively deep RPG that actually bothers to make each party member feel different in combat, while telling a story that most will relate to in some way or...

Child of Light

Elegance. It's a word I've rarely found applicable where video games are concerned, but there's no better way to describe what Ubisoft has achieved with Child of Light . With its earthy, hand-painted art style and charming character designs, it deftly sidesteps the tropey land mines that have...

Beautiful art; Excellent combat; Hand crafted feel; Well balanced

Forced rhyming

Child of Light

Child of Light had all the potential of being just another pretty face for the new generation of consoles without much substance. After all, Ubisoft was pimping out those gorgeous screenshots of the game's watercolor art through social media as if this was the game's only asset.

Stunning watercolor art style; vast vertical exploration; and atypical turn-based combat make this a delight for RPG-fans

If only the game didn't rhyme; This is supposed to be like a children's fairy tale, I get it, but the rhyming was never, ever enjoyable

Amazing

This game is amazing and I highly recommend it for those who love turn based RPGs. I also recommend buying it from another place since the retail price is $14.99. Not sure why anyone would buy it for $49.99...

Dream-like

I ordered this without any previous knowledge of the title because, as a cynical and beleaguered man of 44 years, I am absolutely sick to the core of FPS and Racing franchises. After ceaselessly mocking me for buying a "girlie kid's game" my 11 year-old got on the case of downloading the game from...

Child of Light

Over the past few years, Ubisoft's Ubi Art studio produced gorgeous 2-D games, namely 2011's Rayman Origins and its grand 2013 follow-up, Rayman Legends . For its latest project, Child of Light , the developers took an entirely new direction, creating a fantasy world and surrounding it with...

Tremendous presentation; with hand-drawn visuals and a worthwhile soundtrack; Gameplay doesn't follow the role-playing norm; The multiplayer isn't as strong as other games; but works well enough

Rhyming dialogue can be its own worst enemy; May take a while to get into the battle system; Can be too easy unless you crank up the difficulty
