Catherine Classic review – Dual shadows

But it's easy to see why the story was so revered when it released in 2011. Storytelling has come a long way in gaming in the last eight years. Catherine should still be celebrated for even broaching subjects like this in a world before Limbo .

Engaging modern arcade gameplay; Visual design that still pops; An excellent PC port full of modern options

Too many repetitive narrative beats; Imprecise controls that hurt nuanced play; Tags

Amazing complex game of the human psychology. Fears, desire, and love all brought into a very intricate puzzle game. Will definitely test your skills to think on your feet which I think is the greatest part about it.

This games is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not remember when was the last time that I enjoy so much a game. Catherine is perfect in very much senses. Great graphics, great puzzles, great sound and oustanding story. Besides, is a mature game, fun and interesting. Just it is a MASTERFUL PIECE.

Everyone knows about the mature themes of relationships and infidelity of this game, and Atlus (same team behind the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games) pulls it off very well with some very nice cut scenes.

Guide Vince through a block pushing puzzle adventure which will determine the fate of his love life.

In a marketplace oversaturated with sport games, endless sequels and first person shooters Catherine stands out as one of the most unique console titles I have played in years. Forget about saving the world, leading your favourite team to cup glory or managing a successful farm - what we have here...

Great anime style visuals; good music; plenty of fiendish puzzles; captivating story

The difficulty will frustrate some players; the choices you make don't affect most of the story

Catherine: review

Originally released last year in Japan and the states, Atlus' mad block-puzzle ‘em up has finally come to our shores. Catherine is a bit of an odd one to say the least. It's an RPG-puzzle-platform hybrid that separates gameplay styles between night and day.

It's not very often that big budget games explore adult themes in a very serious manner. Catherine deals with relationships, sex, and commitment among plenty of other extremely mature themes. The game has two distinct elements: conversations and puzzles.

Catherine Review (PS3)

You give love a bad name When it comes to intimate relationships, video games have always approached the topic of sex with the same maturity of the average homeless flasher. Many tut at the sheer number of weirdly perfectly rendered bosoms seen nowadays, but there was once a time where men would...

Refreshingly original; Bizarre plot that begs for intrigue; Blisteringly challenging puzzles that are all the more rewarding upon completion; Multiple endings and modes to unlock after completion

Incredibly niche format will put off some; Some bosses even on ‘Easy' can prove all to intimidating for the inexperience just wishing to spend more time with the plot
