Catherine review

Atlus has created a challenging, clever title that explores complex issues and marries them to solid gameplay. Catherine is a surprisingly good game.

Intriguing plot, good presentation and voice acting; Moderately high degree of difficulty; Extra challenge levels available outside the main campaign; Hypnotic title screen

The social interaction aspect isn't for everyone; some of the cut-scenes drag; some choices present a blatant false dichotomy while others appear superfluous

Catherine is a dark delight

An incredible dark and twisted, albeit convoluted, tale that plays on simple domestic and emotional consequences. The gameplay is a frustrating yet satisfying puzzle which adds to the nature of the game's absurd story with each and every level. Highly recommend this game and it's special edition.

Catherine

Great story mixed with evil climbing levels. Well worth a playthrough or two.

Catherine

If you're not, or never have been, at a crossroads in your life that represents choosing between freedom or security, then you'll be left with a lovely little puzzle game with a load of unnecessarily slow talking sequences that might be a bit boring.

Catherine

For a game I spent a lot of time avoiding before E3, post-E3 I've written and talked a lot about Catherine . Like the game's blonde love interest, once you've had a taste of what the game offers, it is really hard to stay away.

Catherine review – Valentine's Day?gift

An adult video game that is neither exploitative nor pretentious, but instead weaves a fun yet incisive tale about all too human characters.

Compelling characters and a good balance of interactive and non-interactive storytelling; Superb presentation, with some wonderfully expressive visuals

The puzzle sections sometimes feel like a weak link and have only a tenuous connection to the rest of the game; Some mediocre voiceovers and controversial end game

Catherine Review

Editor's note: Catherine is released in Europe this week. Here we present our review of the North American release of the game, first published in July last year. To the best of our knowledge it's still accurate with respect to the European version.

Your experience with Catherine may differ depending on the choices you make throughout the deeply enjoyable story, there is one thing however that wont change; more specifically there are three words that wont ever change.

Catherine (PS3) Review

There are quite a few odd Japanese games that never make the jump across to the West. Even some of those that do take a long time to reach these shores. The Atlus Persona team had created one such game, Catherine, which was originally released in Japan almost a year ago, before arriving in North...
