Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (Nintendo Switch)

Available exclusively on Nintendo Switch It hurts to be revisiting Captain Toad on . Back when it released on Wii U in 2014 I enjoyed its simplistic but engaging gameplay; finding an adorable game that overflowed with charm.

Puzzles are unique and varied; A visual delight; Plenty of content

Clunky controls get in the way; Lacking in terms of new content; Missing levels from original release

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

The king of rehash failed Family Friendly Gaming Universe yet again. I am pleased Family Friendly Gaming stepped up to the plate and did the right thing when Nintendo was not capable of doing so. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker has been ported from the Wii U to the Switch.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Switch)

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker offers very little for those who have played it before, but if you've never have played before then you're in for a treat. Treasure Tracker might look adorable on the surface but under lurks a fun and innovative puzzler, one that might just be better played on your own...

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Switch) review

In 2014 Nintendo took those Fez-like bonus stages that were included in the terrific Super Mario 3D World and fleshed-out the idea by giving the sentient fungi their own proper 3D puzzle game in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker .

Truncated treasure - Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Special Episode review

If there's one thing Nintendo fans have been clamoring for, it's extra downloadable content for the Switch's premiere Mario title. After all, being immersed once more in that title's stellar worlds and tight mechanics would be a treat, as most everyone has already extracted the final ounce of...

Varied level objectives; Riotous fun; particularly in co-op

Incredibly short; Relies heavily on remixed content

Nintendo recuts a semiprecious stone

The software lineup for the Switch's second year doesn't measure up to its blockbuster opening year. Fortunately, Nintendo still has a volume of critical hits that launched on the underperforming Wii U to help pad out a thin release calendar.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Much like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze before it, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was a true gem on the Wii-U that simply didn't get the recognition it deserved due to the system's relative scarcity in the gaming marketplace.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - Nintendo Switch

I got this game for my 5 year old son. He is pretty good at games but this one is a little more difficult for him and he gets frustrated. I however, love to play it because it is like a giant puzzle. He likes to give me a turn when it gets a little too hard and cheers me on the whole time.

Great for all ages

After daycare, since a few weeks , my 3 yo keeps telling me that she wants to see the "mushrooms" so once a day I play for about half an hour. She understands that the goal is to catch the stars and she likes to choose the next map. Personally, I enjoy the game and I would have played anyway alone.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Switch review – make room for the mushrooms

One of the hidden gems of the Wii U's games line-up comes to both Switch and 3DS, and it's just as magical as ever.

A great idea that is elegant in its simplicity, and yet full of variety and clever twists; Lots of unlockable content and hidden secrets; Gorgeous graphics and sound

It's not very long and the difficultly level never quite advances as far as you'd think; Playing on a TV creates some control problems
