You're just as likely to have a good time with Captain Toad now as you were way back then in the Wii U era. The controls on the Switch don't work as effectively as they did on the Wii U but the new worlds alongside more impressive visuals make this a great port for first timers, and a decent reason...

Great Visuals; New Challenges; Cute Vibe

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - Switch and 3DS Review

Treasure Tracker still feels close to unique, and gains new life on both of Nintendo's current systems. Switch is very much the better choice, but 3DS is by no means a bad option. Still smart, prettier than ever and, in retrospect, genuinely important as part of Nintendo's modern history, is a rare...

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

It's fitting that, four years after releasing on the Wii U, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is enjoying a second life on the Switch: The majority of the game's clever puzzles revolve around shifting our sense of perspective, and isn't it a port's job to give players a chance to see an old title in a...

Nintendo recuts a semiprecious stone

The software lineup for the Switch's second year doesn't measure up to its blockbuster opening year. Fortunately, Nintendo still has a volume of critical hits that launched on the underperforming Wii U to help pad out a thin release calendar.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Much like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze before it, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was a true gem on the Wii-U that simply didn't get the recognition it deserved due to the system's relative scarcity in the gaming marketplace.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Switch)

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker offers very little for those who have played it before, but if you've never have played before then you're in for a treat. Treasure Tracker might look adorable on the surface but under lurks a fun and innovative puzzler, one that might just be better played on your own...

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Switch) review

In 2014 Nintendo took those Fez-like bonus stages that were included in the terrific Super Mario 3D World and fleshed-out the idea by giving the sentient fungi their own proper 3D puzzle game in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker .

My only real gripe about playing the 3DS Treasure Tracker is that although the smaller screens of the system prove a boon for the lower resolution, it's a bit of a double-edged sword in that some of the action is harder to see, as a result. This is especially true on a 2DS.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is not just a good game, it's a great game. The port to the Switch was brilliantly executed, taking full advantage of the console's portability. While I could not recommend it for Switch owners more, the fact it's only $40 means you're getting a top quality game at a...

Review: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker For Switch

is another marvel of a Nintendo game. It feels right at home on the Switch along with all the other Wii U ports. What makes Captain Toad such a fun game is the cleverly designed levels, the unique way of solving puzzles by moving the camera around and also by the immediacy of beating levels.
