Nintendo recuts a semiprecious stone

The software lineup for the Switch's second year doesn't measure up to its blockbuster opening year. Fortunately, Nintendo still has a volume of critical hits that launched on the underperforming Wii U to help pad out a thin release calendar.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Switch Review – A Wii U Port Done Right

Back in 2014, Toad, of Super Mario fame, starred in his very first game, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, for the Wii U. The game received very good reviews – here at COGconnected it received an 87 . Unfortunately, the Wii U was not a huge success.

Beautiful visuals; Captain Toad and Toadette are cute as ever; Fun and clever platform puzzler

Minimal new content; Tacked on two-player mode

Review: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker For Switch

is another marvel of a Nintendo game. It feels right at home on the Switch along with all the other Wii U ports. What makes Captain Toad such a fun game is the cleverly designed levels, the unique way of solving puzzles by moving the camera around and also by the immediacy of beating levels.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

It's fitting that, four years after releasing on the Wii U, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is enjoying a second life on the Switch: The majority of the game's clever puzzles revolve around shifting our sense of perspective, and isn't it a port's job to give players a chance to see an old title in a...

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Switch review – make room for the mushrooms

One of the hidden gems of the Wii U's games line-up comes to both Switch and 3DS, and it's just as magical as ever.

A great idea that is elegant in its simplicity, and yet full of variety and clever twists; Lots of unlockable content and hidden secrets; Gorgeous graphics and sound

It's not very long and the difficultly level never quite advances as far as you'd think; Playing on a TV creates some control problems

Toad has been around for a long time. From the strange pixelated shape you would encounter when reaching the castle that would tell you that the "princess is in another castle" in the original Super Mario Bros.

Charming music and visuals; Fun puzzles; Great retro call-backs; Near perfect handheld experience

A bit repetitive; In TV mode; motion controls can feel awkward; Removal of Mario 3D World levels

Game Review: Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is the latest in the line of recent ports from the Wii U to the Nintendo Switch. In many other cases, with a console so early in its life cycle, most would come under heavy scrutiny for having so many re-releases already.

Colourful; vibrant and charming visuals; Cleaver camera manipulation; Fun and addictive gameplay; Two-Player mode and Super Mario Odyssey levels; Captain Toad deserves this second chance on Switch

No Super Mario 3D World levels

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is not just a good game, it's a great game. The port to the Switch was brilliantly executed, taking full advantage of the console's portability. While I could not recommend it for Switch owners more, the fact it's only $40 means you're getting a top quality game at a...

Adorable and tricky!!

This is a relaxed game that on the surface is cute, simple and pretty. However, there are many tricky and clever puzzles later on, and the final level is evil!! But it's a great game. Tight physics, stunning graphics, and clever intuitive ways to play! Many hours of fun, a Switch must have

You're just as likely to have a good time with Captain Toad now as you were way back then in the Wii U era. The controls on the Switch don't work as effectively as they did on the Wii U but the new worlds alongside more impressive visuals make this a great port for first timers, and a decent reason...

Great Visuals; New Challenges; Cute Vibe

Worse in Docked; Controls Feel A Tad Worse Than Original
