Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT Flash Review

Daunting is sitting down at the keyboard to attempt to do justice to a review of Canon's flagship flash, the Speedlite 600EX-RT. Few aspects of an image are as important as the lighting – arguably being second only to the subject and perhaps the composition?

Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT & Transmitter: Flash With Built-In Radio-Operated Trigger

The Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT flash represents a significant new release for Canon photographers, most specifically for those using off-camera flash. A very capable and reliable flash on its own, its real forte is when used as the heart of a radio-controlled flash system.

Performed Great

Bought the flash in preparation of a family photo shoot of a close friend. Used it for the outdoor portion of a large family photo shoot with a Canon 5ds and 24-105 l series lens. Performed great with the wide angle setting outdoors in a very dark near rain setting.

Purchased two new 600EX-RT units, as Canon is coming out with a slightly modified, newer version, 600EX-RTII. So, Adorama's price made for a good deal. I'm quite happy with the flashes on TTL use, it seems this is a much improved flash over the 580EXII.

Love the radio control!

This is the 3rd one of these I've bought along with the ST-E3 controller, that should tell you something right there! It's great that all 3 are adjustable right from the camera.

Love this thing

I have only had a small chance to use this, but so far I love it. I have a 5d Mark 3 and the camera will controle the flash through the menu. It is nice to have a flash that will work with the full range of my 70-200mm lens. The only down side is the price, but Canon had $50 off.

Easy To Use; Fast Recycling; Powerful Output

Best flash made by Canon so far...

Simply the best flash made by Canon and the right way to go for professional use. If your not making money off this unit you could step down a model but if your going to step up and start making money this is your model.

Top of the Line

Works well as the primary flash in the Canon system. Now if they will come out with smaller RT flashes, things will be complete.

Consistent Output; Easy To Use; Fast Recycling; Powerful Output; Versatile
